MQM had presented five nominees for Sindh caretaker chief minister. The names included Muneeb Ahmad Khan, Justice (retd) Ghaux Muhammad, Habibur Rehman, Nasir Aslam Zahid and Mehmood Alam Rizvi. While Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) nominated Justice (retd) Deedar Hussain and Justice (retd) Hamid Mirza.

According to Express Tribune, the two sides then agreed to select a caretaker chief minister with mutual consent and shortlisted the names of Justice (retd) Zahid Qurban Alvi and Justice (retd) Deedar Hussain Shah – Justice Alvi came out as the winner.

Sindh became the second province after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to appoint Caretaker Chief Minister. The ruling and opposition parties in other two provinces are still in limbo to finalize the name of Caretaker CM.

Interestingly both Sindh and KPk have selected retired judges for the post of Caretaker CM, with Sindh appointing Justice (retd) Zahid Qurban Alvi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa opting for Justice (retd) Tariq Parvez Khan as Caretaker Chief Minister of the province.
