Happy Anniversary to our beloved Democracy

18th February marks the second anniversary of establishment of democratically elected government in Pakistan after almost a decade long rule of a dictator. People are supposed to be celebrating this day but the scenario for common man is not less than mourning. It is hard to make both ends meet for majority due to sky high (almost chappar phar k) Inflation, sugar crisis, petroleum price hike, load shedding, gas load management, corruption………….the list can go on and on.

Combating such issues common men has only one so far unanswered question:

What good did the democracy give the people & what did it do for the people if, “Democracy is the government of the people, by the people, for the people”.

Here is a Punjabi poetic expression of current affairs for politicians and government to wonder about penned down by Neelam Ahmed Bashir. Vari vari anday jao, khanday jao khanday jao…….

    Hend: the successors to the prophet (who was ruler of Madina and its surrounding areas) were the four Caliphs (Khalifas), as far as non-religous matters were concerned. Secondly, although there was no adult franchise in those days, all decisions were taken after consuting the elders. The Caliphs were chosen by those elders after the death of the Holy Prophet. Thirdly, even today (as in the past), if a decision has to be taken (e.g. whether the burka is essential for Muslim women), the matter is decided after all scholars and others are consulted.

    i have this feeling too that democracy and Islam run pretty well together,, its only wen religion is moulded in a manner that it creates a smoke screen for the general voters in taking wrong decision,, as we saw in the past!

    you are twisting islam according to your will and your are also twisting the meaning of democracy.

    your problem is two fold. lack of knowledge of islam and lack of understanding of democracy.

    let me help you out.

    there are no successors to prophet in islam.

    true muslim countries are required to follow shariat in toto, no exceptions there and no excuses too.

    in democracy people can not only elect their representatives, those representatives can change any law of the land. this is not compatible with islam because by default and islamic country cannot change shariat laws. not only laws but even punishments are prescribed.

    a truly democratic elected government would be violating every basic tenet of islam if it were to act on its free will.

    the bottom line is islam and democracy are totally incompatible. you cannot be a true muslim if you are asking for democracy.

    get it.

    Hend: please don’t comment on something you know nothing about. Democracy is perfectly compatible with Islam. The successors to the Prophet were chosen after mutual consultation among the people. It’s another thing that most Muslim countries are not democratic. but that’s because of other factors (not Islam).

    baby aise nahi kehte. democracy is not compatible with islam and not agreeable to allah. it is a western evil. the only rule for us muslims is allah’s rule as given in holy quran. please read it. the jehadis are the honour of pakistan.
