Will Pakistan and India always be rivals?

Indians and Pakistanis have been rivals ever since partition in 1947. By Indian of course I mean the North Indian Hindu who reacts to all Pakistanis as if they’re collectively responsible for all the rapes which have taken place in India since time began. South Indian Hindus are definitely more cultured and civilized than their northern counterparts. I don’t know the reason for this, although I believe they are the original inhabitants of the subcontinent.

If it hadn’t been for the waves of Aryan (and later Muslim) invasions from Central Asia, the demographics of the region would have been different. Pakistanis (being almost entirely Muslim) are hostile towards Indian Hindus because the latter are responsible for most of the problems they face. It all started with the invasion of Kashmir, Junagadh and Hyderabad. The ruler of Junagadh wanted to join Pakistan, while the ruler of Hyderabad (a country the size of France) wanted independence from India. In Kashmir, the Hindu ruler wanted independence, but seeing that the people wanted to join Pakistan, he invited India to save his skin (later it turned out that he signed the instrument of accession to India after Indian forces entered his palace).

Since these historical blunders by India (which has never really accepted the reality of Pakistan), there has been no peace in the subcontinent. In 1971, India invaded East Pakistan and succeeded in dismembering the country. In this, of course, India was ably assisted by the late Z. A. Bhutto, who later nationalized industry and education, and is today thought by many in Pakistan to have been an Indian agent. Both Pakistanis and Indians now regard each other as arch-villains and it will take decades (if ever) for them to live like good neighbours.

Will Pakistan and India Always Be Rivals? As long as you are separate nations, yes. But you can be friendly rivals, laughing at each other’s foibles, forgivable only if you can also laugh at your own, or unfriendly rivals, both somewhat deluded. Far, far better to be friendly rivals, willing to stop poking fun and help each other when needed. Severe youth bulge lowers the average age of the citizenry, and therefore a nation’s collective wisdom.

“I think most of the region’s problems can be solved if India begins by implementing Article 370(b), giving special status to J & K. This article can then be extended to other states, resulting in a loose Indian confederation, ultimately leading to the division of India into 30 small and medium-sized countries. Then of course there will be no India left to bully its neighbours. I hope it happens in my lifetime.”

I am sorry, shakir, but that was neither an intelligent nor a realistic solution. You seem to be bent on putting the other down and score imaginary points in a duel. But, throw back the Pakistani victim in you and think as a neutral.

India and Pakistan have been living side by side for 63 years. Look at India. I mean really look at Inida. There is large-scale poverty for sure but India is bringing more than 1 to 2 million people out of poverty every couple of years or so. How is it managing that?

I think the problems in India, and, as in Pakistan, are largely structural. India has the basics in place,i.e., It has a vibrant democracy uninterrupted in 63 years. It has world’s best bureaucrats but worlds worst bureaucracy.

I look at India and see patches of development and the opposite- stagnation. For instance, you can safely say that the South of India is more developed than the North now. Bangalore, where I come from is now a metropolis with world’s best companies come to invest and find manpower. Kerala is the 1st South Asian state to achieve 100% literacy. Tamil Nadu, has a similar growth trajectory like that of Karnataka. Andra Pradesh is competing with Karanataka for IT and is an excellent place to live. The only patch of stagnation is Andra on the rural side. But, in the last 5 years, I’ve heard things have improved.

Lets look at the worst performers-Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. They were huge swathes of grinding poverty. Now, they have been split to encourage growth.

The reason I am telling you all this is that inspite of all the trouble that India faces, you can bet that this graph will be moving upwards for a long time to come, the same way its happening in China. Rather happened in China during 1990’s to 2010.. This happened because China was able to grow at a earth shattering speed of 10 to 11% consistently. India’s this year growth is pegged at 8.75%. And, our economic managers contend that this is going to rise upto 10% in about 5 years to beat the Chinese growth percentage and become the fastest growing economy in the World.

But, if you look at Pakistan, most of the challenges it is facing are due to structural deficiencies. When a country is not based on strong structural base it tends to make very wrong decisions. It has led to Military takeover of the country for more than half its existence, popular leaders being assassinated(It has happened in India but to a lesser degree a long time ago), bad country managers have pushed the country into unnecessary wars like the proxy war with the Soviets, proxy attacks on India, “strategic depth” theory, bombing civilian populations in Baluchistan in the 70’s, the army operations in East Pakistan(now Bangladesh, which led to the break up of the country).

Now, the question is why did the country managers did this? Because they were unaccountable. They tried to gamble on their gut feelings. No one has been punished for the atrocities committed by an organ supposed to protect the country and ultimately its citizens.

Pakistan has to develop a system of accountability. It has to lay down a path based on vision and with a determination to follow on that path. Its a good sign the recent amendments took place in Pakistan. But, the shadow of Military dominance has not gone away. It should not be allowed to dictate terms to an elected, however unpopular, governments.

Being a small country, Pakistan can really take off on the economic front. It has a huge youth bulge with a number of Pakistanis sending money from outside of Pakistan. It has one excellent institution- Judiciary, but needs to be refined as well.

Democracy is the way forward for Pakistan. If it grows as fast as India is doing now, then there will be no insecurity. 2 growing, happy nations dont make wars of any kind. Military has used India as a tool to scare the people and takeover the country and basically have its way on any affair. This has got to change.

All in all, I wish Pakistan well and see a huge potential. But, its very important to build on that potential. Democracy can get you there, slowly but surely.

Aaah, Yes. Such an enlightening statement. Hindus are responsible for ALL of the woes of Muslims in Pakistan,Palestine,Moon,Bathroom, etc, etc… Believe it or not, Hindus actually forced Zia Ul Haq to accept dictatorship and issue the Hudood Ordinance and kill that SOB ZAB; and, threatened Musharaff that if he doesn’t agree to sell his own people to the Americans for big dollars they will kill him!

It also known that TTP are actually Hindus masquerading as Muslims to defame their Religion(sources: Urdu Newspapers).

And, did you know that Hindus hypnotized the soldiers in East Pakistan and brainwashed them to rape and kill innocent fellow Muslims? This was a ploy by the clever Hindu to defame Pakistan’s name. When 93,000 soldiers returned from POW camps in India, they were found to be under the influence of Royal Challenger Cheerleaders and Vijay Mallya had used his Kingfisher Beer to wipe morality from the soldier’s hearts..

All in all, Hindus, ONLY the bloody Hindus were responsible. Muslims are not at all responsible for their country’s downfall, which includes power shortages, high inflation, rising loans, high fiscal deficit, over population, breaking away of its Eastern Wing, letting other powers violate their sovereignty by allowing them to kill fellow citizens, having their country being ruled by more than half of its life by dictators.

And, the biggest loser on this earth- Zardari, is actually a closet RAW-trained Hindu.

I’d like to end this by giving the solution to all of Pakistani Muslim’s view. Since, Hindus are so adept at terrorizing Muslims, maybe it would be easier for everyone if they converted to Hinduism,Buddhism, Jainism,etc..

I want this post to be published as I was making a point. Please oblige. Hope you see the point I want to make. I dont want to offend anyone based on their nationality or Religion. If I’ve I apologize. I was trying to prove a point.. Hope point taken.

    Thanks..

Hend: my parents had no choice. They were fleeing from mobs who would’ve killed them if they’d stayed back (as in 2003, when Narendra Modi’s mobs killed over 2000 Muslims (including a Congress Lok Sabha member).
