Where MQM Stands?

National government is in the offing, though it’s viability and modality is still very much engulfed in the dark clouds of ifs and buts, and also there are numerous questions to be answered yet from both sides. MQM is one of them.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement has once again gained seats in Karachi and Hyderabad, and in many constituencies where they have won, the opponents are decrying the results and raising hell with the allegations of rigging. It’s been the hallmark of MQM to act negative and then become a victim.

Anway, MQM has tasted the pleasures of power, and they now want to stick with it. They want to become part of any government in center and in the Sindh province. It’s clear that PPP would form the government in Sindh Assembly, and also in the center, and MQM now wants to be the part of both.

The leaders of PPP from Karachi are dead against the joining hands of MQM with PPP, as they have not forget the massacre of 12th May, 2008 2007. These leaders consider PML-Q and MQM on the same grounds and they do not like when Asif Ali Zardari talks about also including them in the fray.

  1. Yes I agree with Umer. MQM is a terrorist organization. Invariably we will probably get ourselves killed for speaking out our views but I dont care – You see, I have the guts to speak while still living in Pakistan. I dont hide away in London and mislead a bunch of wannabe brain-washed gun trotting, mobile snatching youth. God is our greatest fear. Not these germs.

  2. I have strong resentments over any political party to date. They are all thieves. There is no way of selecting the lesser evil. However, the MQM is no different from any other in-born terrorist organization. We have all seen in may ways the bribes and extortion (bhatta) till today in areas where MQM has its stronghold. I think that if MQM has contributed positively in the last few years to help the government, it was the govts weak leadership that allowed itsself to fall prey to MQM’s threat of civil unrest in the country. MQM’s leader sits his FAT BACKSIDE in London where as he appears on media for his long boring speeches blocking up roads and public places with crowds of brain washed and mostly unemployed gun crazy youth.

What this nation needs is true IRON HAND leadership that will do the following:
    1. Re structure the police department and have an independant Judicial system not flagged down by politicians.
    2. Corrupt police officials and influential politicians should be either publically whipped or hanged depending on nature of the criminal offence.
    3. Transportation mafia must be eliminated completly
    4. Outstationed politicians must SHUT UP!! and kept that way for good or come to Pakistan and lead instead of being a coward.

  4. People should accept the MQM as a party of Pakistan, which should be in power, If not in federal but should be in sindh atleast. They also need power, secuirty for their people, and oppurtunties for growing.
Other parties must accept its mandate and allow MQM to farm govt in sindh with peace.
If anybody doesnt take MQM in SINDH govt, their will be no peace in Karachi and Hyderabad, simply!
So If any authortarian read this, they should see the broader view of politics.

  5. Dear Fahd, please remember that it is a basic human quality to take advantage of every situation. MQM is no different from PPP or PML(N). They want jobs for their people, and they want development in their constituencies. PPP & PML(N) did nothing for Karachi, in fact, if you go to Larkana you find that even there the PPP never did anyhing (except build a monument). Karachi saw a great deal of progress in the past five years because MQM really worked hard. So that is why MQM candidates were elected by wide margins. But then, PPP also won in two constituencies, as well as ANP. If there was any rigging, it was on a small scale (and not all of it by MQM).
