PML-N VS MQM – Who Says Our Politicians Are Mature?

The best entertainment one can find these days while watching prime time telecast is simply to watch how the representatives from both parties do their best to declare each other the biggest “liar”. I must admit that neither the Daily Show hosted by John Stewart or any other programme can produce an entertainment than the one produced by both the parties. MQM, no reason to doubt, has always found a way to remain in the news in one form or the other. It has been crowned as the only party which has evolved without becoming an opposition or moving out of a specific geographical surrounding.

Where the entire nation geared up for a Long March to restore CJ, they found ample time to go for a self declared long march without any goal in mind. They can have 42 innocent people killed right in their domain and still one finds them complaining that in fact it was a conspiracy against them. What governance.

Now when it is clear that the wind is all out to set Musharraf on trial, they have found a new note, with the only difference that it is based on an episode nearly 17 years old. A liberal party by manifesto (though one must refer to Imran Khan for their definition), God knows what has occupied their mind this time around. It was PPP and MQM who have secured maximum out of the spirit of reconciliation(NRO) and they are vocal every time to declare that we are moving in a new direction, but still one finds them opening up files which were locked many years back.

To PML-N I don’t have words of appreciation, although of a different kind. Its leadership, precisely Mr. Nawaz has in the name of friendly opposition destroyed the whole credibility of an institution called the parliament. One cannot find an example like this where evil is protected today for the betterment of tomorrow. After every accord he has landed himself in trouble, only to stand up and gear up for another accord. The position in which he has found himself, it is required that he must play a role seen in the past from Nawabzada Nasrullah but unfortunately this is not the case. Where it is a known fact that this will help neither of them, they have dragged many controversial entities into the whole drama. One watches every day how former spy masters are revealing facts (who knows true or false) and on its bases our politicians our deriving new policies.

For so long the political forces in Pakistan have cried that the only root cause for the failure of democracy is the invisible hand of establishment and today from Raiwind to London they are fighting on the claims made by the same power. So shameful, in the end it really hurts every Pakistani when they see their capital turning into a US colony of 7000 marines, flour and sugar not accessible even in Ramadan, an uncertain future with no economical prosperity, an unseen presence of Taliban still haunting, But our political gurus out there to settle the scores from the past. Undoubtedly the vacuum of leadership has damaged us more than any thing else.

    Dear majid.
MQM workers & its leadership belongs to middle class who not born having golden spoon in mouth but have potential to change the destiny of country. unlike All others , it run its operation through millions of general public donations . i myself donate 5 % of my monthly income to MQM fund because i trust on my leadership. regarding MQM , i can not change your mindset because it seems that you are totally brain washed & dont want change in this country of fuedals. or may be you belong to jamaat-e- munafiqeen who never ever accept truth & whose role is always against public interests . shame on jamaate-e-munafiqeen .

Why would a politician write such a law and lose his vote bank or his right to rule? Maybe Imran can write such a law if people stand behind him.

My whole point is people need a rallying point or a unifying figure to lead them. There are not many around…Imran just seemed like one such to me.

I didn’t want to bring India in this unrelated topic but since you mentioned it.

“In India, too, many criminals get elected to parliament”
Please change ‘many’ to ‘mostly’. This is no exaggeration.

    Few anecdotes:
    * One actor turned politician and member of parliment got lost on his way to the parliament because in 5 years he had been there only once.
    * Another member of parliament recently was seen screaming in fear and crying when the vehicle she was traveling in had to go through a few inches of flood water.
    * Another one was reported as having not asked even 1 question.

    Don’t we absolutely deserve them?

why do the youth movements of MQM carry so much arms and ammunition???

I doubt those weapons should be in their hands (they arent even registered!)

MQM has worked hard for Karachi and they’ve done great things. But outside of Karachi, they hardly have any support.

In the industrial areas, the locals do not like MQM……MQM’s doctrine is to fight against feudalism and land-mafia types. But they are involved in the same activities!!!

MQM, PML N, PML Q, PPP, etc. — they are all loser parties, run by losers……..

we need new faces and we need change. There is a new party that not many people know about.

    PAKISTAN MOTHERLAND PARTY

    Learn about them.

To hell with all these other butter-and-toast eating sorry sons of bitches. They are all liars, all thieves, all losers……they only care about themselves. They don’t care about Pakistan.

    so to hell with them.

and if you wish to gauge the greatness of altaf hussain , just read the statement of breg( R) imtiaz who recently told media that 1n 1990 , everry filthy politicion of pakistan took money from secret agencies including filthy namaz who received 35 lakhs but the one & only Altaf hussain refused to be sold. Altaf hussain refused to accept bribery , except him every so-called politician received money from ISI . docoumented proof are available. this is the mirror of truth… Salam Altaf hussain… keep going …. we All people are with you.

@ Hend: until and unless there’s a law disqualifying bank defaulters or those who’ve got loans written off, honest people like Imran Khan don’t have a chance of winning elections. In India, too, many criminals get elected to parliament. Same situation exists in Pakistan.

who brought weapons to universities ?
who occupied universities of pakistan & induldge students in to polotics ?
who brutally beaten imran khan & expelled him from punjab university ?
i think u understand what iam implying for .
you can not hide truth from your memories .
facist are those who brought weapons in to universities but why dont you talk about those so-called islamic fascist groups commonly known as jamaat-e-munafiqeen sorry jamate-islami .
as long as propegenda against haq parast , i would only mention Abu-jahal in the era of hazrat Mujammad p.b.u.h who also made poisionous propegenda against our prophet but what happend ? was our prophet stopped his struggle ? never likewise Altaf hussain & MQM would also continou their struggle against the system of Abu-jahal despite operations , propegendas . remember MQM is last hope for 98 % explioted pakistanis in the hands of fuedals, military & mullas. yes we know that Abu-jahal & their followers would like to save their system at any cost but Great ALLAH is with truth… and truth is Altaf hussain who is struggling for next generations…GOD bless him

Running a party and fighting elections requires huge amounts of money, it is a reality.

Raising funds: Political parties run more of less like large corporations.

Their pre-election investors are big businesses, black marketeers, builders and just about anyone who wants to get bigger favours in terms of policies, contracts and money. Their employees are the party workers, party is the source of their income – regardless of how the party makes money.

The post-election source of income for the party is, kickbacks, commissions off every contract and bribes. The little bit intent of serving the public or country is non existent and mostly forced out of necessity to keep the power.

The problem with such a system is when the party wins, they have to start making money to,

    1. pay back the pre-election investors and ensure they invest next time. This is done by formulating policies which favour them, letting them get away with their black marketing and illegal ways, not prosecuting or taking any action which will hamper their operations
    2. pay the party workers and make sure they remain with the party and keep collecting the money. This is achieved by paying the lowest level workers and rewarding the higher one’s with positions of power where they can make money for themselves and at the same time sustain the overall money making cycle for the party.
Ever notice how the party workers celebrate when they win the election? like winning a lottery!

Now turning to imran, presuming that he is an honest man who entered politics with the sole intention of serving his country and people, it is no surprise if he cannot collect money to spread his party. he will need to compromise a lot of his principles to raise funds and if he does that to spread then he will not be able to serve the interests of people because he will have to pay back his investors.

Does this mean, an honest man has no future in politics? NO.

Take example of Obama (without making presumptions about his honesty etc.), 80% of his funds came from small contributions of $10-20 sent by common public. He collected far more money than Senator McCain. Moreover he had a far larger volunteer force of newly registered party workers.

    This shows two things,
    1. if common man wants to be looked after then he/ she needs to invest in a politician who is likely to work for them. As explained above, this cannot happen unless people contribute to him and thus increasing their leverage over his actions.
    2. common public will have to volunteer to work for such a party or leader WITHOUT expecting PETTY favours in return.

Imran will have to make the kind of effort he made for his hospital. Go to people explain the situation and appeal for money to help him spread his party. Spread his message clearly about what he stands for and what he intends to actually do instead of indulging in mere criticism (which he tends to do often) and ofcourse spread nationalism. After that leave the rest to common people, if they can rise above ethnic biases and trust him enough to give him a chance then fine else…just keep doing the good work as a duty towards country.
