Petition against Pak Suzuki Motor Company

Pak Suzuki Motor has been spewing out vehicles in Pakistan for almost 25 years now. This post speaks out on the behalf of those people who are the victim of low quality production and highly un-user friendly approach of this plant.

The end-product a customer gets from this plant after a painfully lengthy period is simple a heap of bland garbage. For instance I recently got my Mehran Suzuki Car from a local dealer in Rawalpindi almost 2 months ago and still hasn’t been able to experience the smooth functioning of vehicle. There were many manufacturing faults in it from the outset. Major manufacturing faults were faulty hand brake, loose doors, substandard rubbers, dried up bushes, ill-fitted window glasses. The Rs. 350000+ vehicle hadn’t even got simple cheap things like mud flaps, seat covers, and other small things. Automobile mechanics themselves advice that one has to replace many parts of a new vehicle in order to get some sort of relief.

This state of affair is absolutely unacceptable. If you share the pain, frustration and humiliation, then please join hands to protest against this high-handedness of Pak Suzuki Motors Company by signing the following petition:

@Ahsan Hassan: Nice Analysis. I have heard about issues in finding economical spares and good mechanical support for Vitz. What are your comments?

    Guys,

This is the first time i have visited this website. Truly i am very happy to see that there is a lot of consensus on the quality and standard of the Pak Suzuki Motor Company. I just would want to put forward a few basic facts here. In 2004 i bought a brand new Suzuki Cultus VXR. Basic price of the car was Rs 590,000/- above that i had to pay a premium of Rs 40,000/- which was by the way a rebated amount the actuall premium cost was around 80-90k which is so bloody unrealistic. Premium for a car like Suzuki. Orright well just the basic and premium made me spend 630,000/- for the car. Remember this is without registeration and Alloy Wheels and i get a car without Power steering, without powered windows and without any other options. The car costed an approximate Rs 660,000/-

In 2006 however since i really liked the Toyota Vitz also known as the Toyota yaris in USA and the entire europe, henceforth i decided to buy that car. I have an Electric Blue 2004 Toyota Vitz G grade with all options which includes full extensions on the body & and VVTi engine. Power steering, Powered Windows, Central locking, ABS & pressure distribution braking system, SRS air bags & Also it was equipped with an auto starter and security. Only Done 29,000KM the car was in mint condition and i paid Rs 650,000/- For the basic car which did not have Alloy wheels. I did get alloys to the car too 15 inch with low profile YOKOHAMA 195/50R15.. Costed me 42000/- and an additional 13000/- for the registeration. So i got a car with all options that one generally gets in a Honda Vti in under Rs 750,000/- The car is just amazing and drive pleassure is far far better than the Suzuki VXL not to mention VXR. Technically i paid just Rs 100,000/- more and got a car that gives me 17-18 to a litre on fuel which is running on larger alloy wheels. I think even if Suzuki introduces their new car which is the SWIFT coming out with a new shape it is going to be very hard for them to compete with the imported cars just relating to the options that one finds in these cars and the Standards and Quality maintained by the international manufacturer.

Here we pay Rs 650,000/- for a ” SHIT ” car with no options. Funnie innit.

No matter how motivated the suzuki employees may be untill and unless the company improves its Quality standards & policies regarding introducing competitive options in the local car industry for ” SUZUKI ” i am sure the local car industry for suzuki ATLEAST is going to go down the Drain.. And the internationally manufactured cars would win the game. Since now the consumer here in the Pakistani market is way mature and understand the opportunity cost he is paying for gettin a product and in the due course of time would also understand the marketing gimmicks of these Car manufacturing Giants. And an intelligent buyer would buy something with options and that is lasting too. I understand that the toyota VitZ/Yaris may be a little high maintainance but that is the price one pays for gettin something that is better than the rest. Thankyou & Regards.

While I dont agree with Meher,Kamran has something sensible. But every body should be given a fair trial. Just consider this. The price of every car or bike made in Pakistan includes almost 50% taxes which means the real price of Mehran is 150,000 or so. Secondly all its parts are locally made. Now tell me what quality you will expect. Just think! If we could import some second hand politicians and a reconditioned or used govt. from some civilized country everything would be O.K. even Mehran. And Kamran; the need is for laws to regulate the makers just like in developed countries. By the way, I live and work abroad and think you 40 have started a good tradition. But, hey; as far as I am concerned I would go for a local car when I return because first of all I am Pakistani.

I decided to immediately sign the petition after reviewing the comments of all those suffering at the hands of these CAR MAFIAS.

I purchased a brand new Mehran VXR in 2006 March~April @ Rs.3,95,000 (Factory price) 40,000 (OWN)= Rs.4,35,000. Now immediately we had the following issues:

    1. Car heating up, from the dealer shop to my residence (had to stop the car and consult a mechanic)fan stopped working.
    2. There is a continuous sound in the axel of the car which is quite irritating and cannot be repaired as it is considered to be a maunfacturing defect.
    3. As all of you have noticed the quality of finishing and cosmetics of the car make it more appealing than ever before.

Result: Sold it out within a month at loss of the OWN, and purchased a 1999~2000 Vitz. Haven’t had a problem since then.

Conclusion: This is hard earned money we’re spending on purchasing Trash, it’s better to buy a used car rather than a new one and spend loads of money to pay for the negligence of the authorities who are here with the sole purpose of making profits at the cost of innocent people.

    P.S> Mr.Mehar Naeem suckss!!

    Thanx.

    Just signed the petition…

It really won’t be affecting Suzuki anyway… We need some other method to coerce Suzuki into providing better cars.

@ Mehar Naeem: You said “hue and cry of these 40 people is worth nothing”….now that really shows the mentality of Pak Suzuki and its affiliates and beneficiaries.

If you see the number of comments on this thread and number of hits (if there is any way to show it) as compared to other threads at Chowrangi, then perhaps you will come to realize that how much people want to spit thier anger out at PSM. People have awakenup and the they will not rest until PSM gets its doing right or get the hell out of business from Pakistan.

As for my Mehran update, its rear door suddently got jam without any reason. At night it was working fine, but when I tried to open it up in morning, it refused to do so.

@Mehar Naeem: I am sure you are running a profitable and setup and hopefully you would have satisfied customers as well. However, the rule of ‘majority is authority’ most often leads to ‘might is right’ analogy. Car buyers in Pakistan had limited selection till couple of years back and we have seen people exploiting and minting money on expense of the common consumer. How do you justify OWN, by the way?

@Kamran K. Kureshi: While your suggestions may be valid, I do not think the Govt. is sincere enough to listen to public concerns else they would have taken stern action against substandard local cars.

I have been running my Suzuki dealership for 5 years now in Lahore, after doing my MBA. Millions of people are crazy about Suzuki. So in comparison of million of these people, hue and cry of these 40 people is worth nothing.
    Majority is authority.

    Dear sufferers,

    Wouldn’t it be great if, as part of its regulations plan for the automobile industry, the government considers creating a cell where all vehicle related complaints and suggestions are received, sorted, recorded, examined and passed on as feedback to the manufacturer for reviewing its Quality Control procedures and removal of valid customer complaints : Results of statistical analysis on the defects picked up from the customer complaints form – a form which would to a great degree ensure valid inputs from the person/s filling it, would then be passed on to the manufacturer and its certified dealers for their record and necessary action. The cell would of course also need to perform regular audits on the manufacturer’s facility and at the show room/workshops of the authorized dealers to get the complete picture and be empowered to also issue a directive to the manufacturer, whenever the case may be, which ;

    1. Prohibits sale, repair and all other vehicle related functions at showrooms and/or workshops not complying with the Government issued ‘Vehicle Transaction and Customer Service’ process and procedures. The customer service process and procedures would include assuring that all authorized workshops are adequately equipped both in equipment and skilled manpower to handle old and new models of their manufactured vehicles : That Mandatory and regular trainings are being imparted to all technical personnel with complete maintenance of their training records and that all workshops are provisioned with the required tools and test equipment which is being regularly and timely calibrated from a valid source.

    2. Makes it necessary for the manufacturer to extend with immediate effect, the warranty periods of specific models, Old/New .

    3. Makes it necessary for the manufacturer to arrange month long free vehicle repair and proper vehicle handling workshops in all major cities every six months. Other then generate goodwill and be a source of valuable feedback regarding the vehicles performance and use, this platform would also offer the manufacturer an opportunity to remove the still unnoticed and/or ‘Hidden Defects’ in the vehicle.

    4. Asks For ‘Vehicle Recall’ if the ‘nature’ and/or frequency of the problems deems fit for such an action.

The government is sincerely making an effort to ensure that all citizens get maximum value for the money spent on their valid investments and therefore have no doubts about Vehicle manufacturers already being under pressure to evolve better mechanisms for meeting the ‘Very Valid’ customer and customer service expectations.

@Ali: As Joy is local assembled, availability of parts and spares is no issue. You can either go for the genuine parts or the cheap ones from open market.
