Petition against Pak Suzuki Motor Company

Pak Suzuki Motor has been spewing out vehicles in Pakistan for almost 25 years now. This post speaks out on the behalf of those people who are the victim of low quality production and highly un-user friendly approach of this plant.

The end-product a customer gets from this plant after a painfully lengthy period is simple a heap of bland garbage. For instance I recently got my Mehran Suzuki Car from a local dealer in Rawalpindi almost 2 months ago and still hasn’t been able to experience the smooth functioning of vehicle. There were many manufacturing faults in it from the outset. Major manufacturing faults were faulty hand brake, loose doors, substandard rubbers, dried up bushes, ill-fitted window glasses. The Rs. 350000+ vehicle hadn’t even got simple cheap things like mud flaps, seat covers, and other small things. Automobile mechanics themselves advice that one has to replace many parts of a new vehicle in order to get some sort of relief.

This state of affair is absolutely unacceptable. If you share the pain, frustration and humiliation, then please join hands to protest against this high-handedness of Pak Suzuki Motors Company by signing the following petition:

I have simply cancelled my plans to buy Suzuki. I was planning to buy the Alto but after hearing a lot of complaints and finally witnessing myself its front wheels getting jammed on hard breaking, I felt scared and sick to the stomach. I’m planning to buy either the QQ or Joy. I find both cars of acceptable quality but the issue is spares. I’m not at all concerned with resale.

@ Kamran K. Kureshi: Great news, but only time will tell the authenticity of claim. Now what about millions of people who are already suffering from Suzuki products in Pakistan?

    Dear victims-to-bad-experience,

I have solid reason to believe that Pak Suzuki have taken note of this and other valuable feedback from its cherished customers and will now make the Pakistani people proud by exceeding their expectations in terms of quality and workmanship. Pak Suzuki’s production quality index will by far be better than that of India’s in the year 2007. This will result in higher quality Suzuki cars in Pakistan. I have no reason to doubt that the Pakistani white and blue collar work force at Pak Suzuki is more than proud of being part of a ‘World beater’ car manufacturing company and are hell bent on showing the foreign investor of world class workmanship. Please belive me when I say that the present workforce has been positively so motivated by the employer that they will happiliy be focused on meeting and exceeding the Japanese Industrial Standards through a system that ensures continuous improvement.

It is nice to hear that people has started criticising on the products and behaviours of companies towards their customers.

I think people should stop paying (price own bundle of after purchase expenses) on suzuki Mehran and pay that money to some other competetor who is providing U Imported car although it is some costly but with lots of new features, equiped with new technology and more quality.

But if U care about market value then it is obvious that new imported cars in the markets takes time to make its position which could be two to 4 years or may be more but I think this time period is enough for u to enjoy ur new imported car without spending extra money on its repair and just fuel & oil.

Availability of parts is not such an issue as dealers of imported cars always have most of spare parts with them or they also do their efforts to make them available in the market. I think for such cars u don’t have to replace their parts too for next few years due to their quality.

By investing in other competitors surely U will discourage the PSM so they should think to chage their designs and models and start producing quality products.
If U all say me to fix the price of Mehran, I would fix it at Rs. 150,000/- which suits its quality standard and techenology.

I said all that because of my experience of both Suzuki and Imported Vehicles.

@ Ahmad Khan: As there seems to be no response from the notorious PSM, I contacted their local dealers in Rawalpindi, and showed them the printout of this post and comments. They just were shocked and suprised as uptill yet in their opinion Suzuki had produced gems and people were just religiously attached to it.

@ UTP: Sure, you reflected on same lines. I concur, but the point is how would you create the mass awareness about the crappiness of PSM products or for every low quality highly priced product for that matter?

@ Kashif: Government is hell bent on attracting foreign investors and in joint ventures. In essense that is a good thing, but as you said there should be checks and balances about quality.

@UTP: Right on target. If Suzuki is pushing crappy cars, we, the consumers, are to blame. We buy crappy products to encourage them to bring more crappy products out of the assembly line. We pay OWN to dealers and we compromise on the quality. In absence of any monitoring and monopoly control policy by the government, it is our duty to be vigilant and never compromise on quality.
