Freedom Fighting is not an option, either you are a terrorist or you are a terrorist.

Mangal Panday , Bhagat Singh , Azaad , Raajguru remind us not of a bunch of hooligans chanting for and instigating mindless rebellion but of a voice whose movement shocked the colonial raaj out of its brutish complacency- forcing them to address the grievances and the discontent (though it took long time for them to actually start behaving yet these were the first steps). These men and their resonating voices which all sounded for united-India’s independence and for united-India’s right to self-determination had, still have and will continue to have meaning for the people of our part of the world. These men might have used arms but what lead to their aggression is not a random moment of the day- a whole tradition of injustice was responsible for it and finally lead to it. They were, are, and will continue to be united-India’s heroes no matter how devouringly strong an institution may come to criticize them.

Then why has it happened that people who honoured those who fought against injustice should drive others to a point and then try to stifle rightful rebellion of a land that has undergone exploitation since the inception of Pakistan, in terms of its resources, in terms of the royalties that it deserves for having its resources used up by the rest of the country- exploitation that now has exceeded beyond limitation and definition, injustice and abuse that are subtly being categorized under terms such as security measures, collateral damage(the most heartless term in the area of modern warfare) and various other terms readily available these days

There are people who do not see anything crucial in the ‘law and order’ situation in Balochistan and call the locals ‘insurgents’ who as far as the government is concerned clearly support terrorists and should therefore be held accountable for their confederacy with them. General Sahib is persistent as far as military action in some parts of the region is concerned, regions where locals reside in large numbers and eventually innocent locals are being victimized which will lead to nothing positive – only rebellion can come out of such disregard for civilians of one’s own country. On top of the blatant stupidity, and of all the organizations operating within Pakistan, the Balochistan Liberation Front ( BLF ) has been declared a terrorist organization immediately and apparently for having claimed responsibility for certain blasts but actually for raising its voice to attain provincial autonomy and against Punjabistan’s exploitative measures.

    I do fully agree with Qurat and that is a sad fact that Asia is one of the worst parts of the world and we all have to work together to cope with all these challenges we are facing and creating too. Terrorism is just terrorism – it may never be called freedom fighting or something like that. I am a 27 year old guy from Karachi, Pakistan. I know that there are a lot of injustice for the Karachiites in their own city (and own country, too) but that does not mean that we start fighting and act like militants. We are not terrorists. We are just peace loving people and Karachi has the heart to welcome all the Pakistanis wide open whether its a Punjabi, Balochi, Bengali, Patthan etc.

    I simply believe that poverty is root of all the evils. Education plays a vital role in the growth of a nation. If you have got good education, your nation becomes stronger and healthier. Pakistan has to cope with lots of problems and challenges ahead. We all must work harder and be mature enough to understand our roles and responsibilities as a citizen of this society as well as a human being. No body will tell us that violence is not a good way to solve your problems. The government also needs to help the citizens by empowering them with education and basic necessities of life. Everybody has to take a step if we wish Pakistan to be a stable, peaceful and united country as Quaid dreamed of.

    Dear you have Sardar phobia which has no treatment. why do you visit Balochistan and talk to ordinary people to find out the ground realities. Our problem is not job, royalties or pakistan. Our problem is the occupation of Balochistan and we want those pakistani occupier out of our holy land.

    Mr. Adnan Siddiqi…..
    I think u should visit Balochistan once… and I hope your point of view will be changed completely. It is very easy to accuse Baloch freedom fighters of carrying out terrorist activities sitting here in a commercial city and enjoying almost all the facilities of modern life. Dont you see the government is using massive air power against Baloch rebels, continuous airstrikes and even the news of using some chemical waeapons there is this all for a few… terrorists or traitors.. (mutthi bher sher pasands) are you blind.
    Its a full fledge war of independence that more than 30,000 regular troops and 40,000 frontier cons- is unable to crush. Open your eyes fellows dont be so ignorant and ruthless.

    a medium size business in Karachi generates more revenue in a month than a Baloch Sardar makes in a year.

    Thats bullshit.Either you have never been in Karachi or you were too naive about facilities given to baloch sardars.

    Do you have any idea what facilities PPL(Pakistan Petrolium) had given to bloch sardars?It was really life infinite amount of petrol and other facilities were given to them.Dont consider Bugti and Muree saints while they are devil in Human form.Your resources were occupied becoz ur sardars didnt let your province people to do anything.They kept enjoying rewards of benefit themselves while kept their awam away from it.Not surprised,this is done by politicans of other provinces as well.Its just we do realise that we r being screwed by govt while you dont wana accept the evilness of baloch sardars.

    Qurat:What i read that whatever is happening in Balochistan is not *individual exercise* by baloch sardars[read i said sardars not all balochs].They are being backedup by Indians,particularly RAW who are stationed in afghanistan in Indian embassy.Pakistan has handed over proof to India officially.

    I support govts point of view to crush all these bloody baloch sardars but i also want to give equal rights to ppl of Balochistan like Punjab and Sind.

    In 1948, Balochistan, an independent country

    care to enlighten me?I met a pathan taxi driver.He was saying that NWFP was not going to part of Pakistan and they wanted to be with Afghanistan.Ignoring the facts that thousands of pathan become rich by doing business in Karachi which is actual city of *Pakistan*.Their transport mafia is like pain in ass for us in Karachi.

    ifyou didnt want to be part of pakistan then what was your other option?Afghanistan(quite unusual,Iran or _India_)??

    Khanana,

    Thanks for expressing candidly that you are unaware of the realities in Balochistan. I’m sure you are regularly fed negative propaganda by the state sponsored newspapers and radio about the cause of the crisis in Balochistan, but contrary to what the people of Pakistan believe, I would like to present you with a Baloch version of the ground realities:

    1. In 1948, Balochistan, an independent country, was forcibly annexed with Pakistan. The Baloch resisted, and lost their sovereignty to Pakistan’s armed forces;

    2. Subsequent struggle by Baloch nation for freedom from Pakistan were organized in 1958, 1963-69, 1973-77, and 2005 to present. Over 100,000 Baloch warriors have sacrificed their lives;

    3. To date, the occupying Pakistani forces are usurping the natural resources of Balochistan without equitable distribution of proceeds back into the territory;

    4. The total neglect by the occupying Pakistani forces in developing infrastructure, educational facilities, health care, job opportunities, etc. in Baloch territory has deprived its people;

    5. The Punjab dominated bureaucracy and military are marginalizing Baloch territory by populating it with people from Punjab;

    6. Over 600 police check-posts are established in Balochistan to restrict free movement of Baloch people;

    7. Development funds are spent on building military cantonments to further oppress the Baloch nation;

    8. So, due to ruthless suppression of political voice of the Baloch people regarding the injustices committed by the Pakistani occupiers (over 6,000 Baloch are languishing in Pakistani jails for voicing their concerns in a “political” manner), a few brave Baloch warriors have taken up arms to fight back and gain self-determination for the Baloch nation. Although I’m not condoning violence as an answer to oppression, but when all political dialogues with the Pakistani oppressors have failed, then the Baloch feel that fighting a “War of Independence” is the only way to gain self-determination and freedom.

    Around the world there are various forms of governments. Pakistan is a military dictatorship; India is the world’s largest democracy; Saudi Arabia is a monarchy; etc. etc. The Baloch have the Sardari system of government. This system is well ingrained in the Balochi culture. So, it is up to the Baloch people to decide if the Sardari system is obsolete or not. I don’t think an outsider is in a position to lecture a Baloch about pros and cons of the Sardari system.

    It is naive of you to think that the people of the poorest region of the world, Balochistan, whose natural resources and strategic location is being exploited and usurped by the Pakistani occupiers, has the funds to self-finance development in their territory. No matter how powerful the tribal leaders are in Balochistan, no one has enough financial resources to build infrastructure without the tax collection abilities of a state. Quite frankly, a medium size business in Karachi generates more revenue in a month than a Baloch Sardar makes in a year.

    I hope this brief lesson will clarify certain misunderstandings you may have about the reasons for the crisis in Balochistan.

    @Concerned Baloch,
    Brother being an ordinary Pakistani living in a commercial city we don’t know much about the realities going on in Blochistan. All we heard and read is that BLA has taken responsibility for implanting terrorist activities like bombing and etc. I hope everyone would agree with me as I believe theres no declaration is required against any organization or individual involved in such activities, they should be shot on site. I myself has experienced blast sites very closely, seen bloodshed and chaos in Karachi, and I can recall that morning when I was at PIDC traffic signal where I saw car flying in air because of a bomb and next morning I read that BLA has taken responsibility of that bomb.
    I wonder who made them believe that militancy would bring free rights and prosperity to Blochistan. It can only come through their own people who lead them but their leaders were always busy in securing their own interests rather than working for their nation. We all know the situation of literacy and other facilities in major part of Blochistan. This is not something for which we can hold present government or previous government responsible, this is something created in past fifty years.
    Do you think it’s Only the federal government who should make sure of the development in every part of the country? Don’t you feel that these Sardars were always in power in Blochistan and were always in a position to generate economic activates and developments in their areas? Lack of funds should not be the issue they could make initiatives to generate economic activities like now we hear about Gawadar port and others. Similar initiatives should have been started way before.
    Anyhow, I would agree that BLA tag should not be used against any innocent but it is also essential to ban all such organizations or individual whosoever get involve in any activity against Pakistan.

    Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) is a clandestine organization. The Pakistan government doesn’t have a clue about its whereabouts. Hence, declaring BLA a terrorist organization doesn’t make any sense unless the true intent of the authorities is to persecute Baloch people under terrorism charges.

    I believe that the Pakistani authorities will declare any undesirable Baloch as a member of BLA to legitimize their extra judicial arrest and punishment. This is a convenient way to oppress the Baloch nation.
