Ulema Also Came on Board

a meeting of the Muttahida Ulema Council was held in Lahore which was attended by the ulema from Jamaat Ahl-e-Sunnat, Ahl-e-Tashee, Ahl-e-Hadees, and the Devbandi and Barelvi schools of thought. An unanimous decree was announced in the meeting that suicide attacks in Pakistan are haram and najaaiz.

That is a welcome announcement, but mere rhetoric is not enough, and rather these religious leaders must also come forward and do some practical things to back up their wordings. They must also be joined by other political religious parties like JUI-F and the Jamat-e-Islami, and their leaders like Fazlur Rehman and Qazi Hussain Ahmad must think above their vested interests.

These religious leaders must support the jirgas and the operation of security forces against the militants in the FATA and Swat region and they should support our troops out there.

It’s time that we all unite against the terrorism.

The question arises: why do they condemn suicide bombings in Pakistan alone? Do they think suicide bombings are justified in other countries? And why do they want the government to conduct negotiations with the terrorists? How can anyone talk to people who brainwash others to blow themselves up? The only way to solve the problem is to flush out the foreign militants and their supporters who have found refuge in FATA. If the government again starts talking with them, they will regroup and strike again even while negotiations are in progress. These people have no religion, they’re mentally unstable and they pose a threat to the whole world.

I am just hoping Zardari the eternal source of shame to Pakistan will not insult Pakistan more in his current visit to China. I am hoping the Chinese will not leave Pakistan’s friendship because of the antics of an ape like Zardari.

As far as the establishment ulema are concerned, most of these Pakistani ulema organisations have their roots in Jamiat-e-ulema-e-Hind, which contained simple-minded 8th century bigots who followed Nehru and Gandhi, abused Mr Jinnah for not being religious and opposed the establishment of Pakistan as a British conspiracy.

Today they lay a bigger claim on Pakistan than the rest of ordinary Pakistanis.

Have they not seen that it was with suicide-attacks that Israel was driven out of Gaza in 2005? How dare they denigrate the sacrifices of Muslims who gave their lives for a noble cause?

Yes, these fat Mullahs do not think blowing oneself up is a good idea, but I would be surprised if they did.
