The situation in the tribal region of Pakistan cannot be solely handled by the Pakistani forces, just because the attacks are not coming from the Afghanistan area. The militants are pouring in from the Kunar and Paktika process, and most of support to them in terms in money and weaponry is coming from that area.
Now it seems that the other stakeholders, who are fed up with this aimless and useless war are realizing this and rights steps are being taken in the right direction. Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, his Afghan counterpart General Bismullah Khan and the commander of Afghanistan’s Nato force, General David McKiernan have met, and they intend to meet more in the wake of combating terrorism at the core.
The foremost thing is that these generals must take steps for better coordination and enhanced cooperation to avoid misunderstandings. They should join hands, share intelligence and buck up each other without violating each other’s sovereignty.
