The End of Coalition

The five month old coalition government of PPP and PML-N has finally come to an end. PML-N has finally pulled itself out of the coalition. PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif has, somewhat taken the right decision to quit the coalition. The person who is accountable for this break up is none other than the infamous Mr. Asif Ali Zardari.

People had really high hopes from this coalition government. This was, for the first time in the history of Pakistan, that two rival parties had joined hands to pull the country out of crisis together and to support democracy. Mr. Zardari had made many false promises; the most important of all was that all the deposed judges will be reinstated back to their positions including the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. But to our people’s dismay, he failed to keep his promise. Mr. Nawaz Sharif was very enthusiastic for the reinstatement of the judges. He gave ample time to Mr. Zardari. But unfortunately he ditched him, and the entire nation every time and now this is the end.

How can he, then expect that the people of Pakistan want to see him as their president. The answer is a big NO. It took nearly nine years to get rid of the previous dictator, Gen Musharraf (rtd). Pakistanis don’t want to waste their next nine to ten years, getting rid of this person who is linked to many corruption scandals. If Mr. Zardari will take charge as the president of Pakistan then there would only be destruction and the name of Pakistan will probably disappear from the map of the world.

You seem surprised by the recent developments with regards to the coalition breaking up Saher. It was the most expected move in fact! Zardari and Nawaz… together for the good and betterment of Pakistan. You must be kidding. So much for a democratic coalition! It could not last for more than a week once their goal to remove the President was accomplised.

Why fret and protest over who becomes president and what not. Pakistanis elected these peole as their leaders. A nation as ignorant as our deserves a president whose most impressive credential is that he has spent over a decade in prison and whose case hearings are heard halfway across the world too!

There is your cup of democracy for you. You decide whether you’d like the PML-N flavor or PPP! 🙂
