President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Army Chief Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani must be very keen on watching as what comes out of the peace efforts in the restive Malakand division, which is smoldering and also its flames are overflowing to the adjacent districts.
But now the power brokers in the country must sit together and seriously chalk out some long-term visionary policy for the war on terror in the country. Things are very serious and the matters pertaining to the regional situation, including the Swat peace accord and the military operation in the tribal areas demand continuous focus and strict vigil.
It would be foolhardy to call the current peace efforts in Swat the weakness of the government. It’s what was the only option remained with the government. Either everyone would have perished in the Swat or we would have a chance to survive. The fire in Swat would have engulfed the whole country, but now there is hope.
The so-called intellectuals should shut up and let the Swat come back to the life.
