It was thought and expected that after a tough, tense and bloody year at least the people of Pakistan would get some relief and would unwind on the auspicious occasion of Eid, but as the country is kept on rocking with the bomb blasts, there is little hope that anything good will come out this Eid.
Every year Eid brings happiness and a sense of fulfillment. The rituals and celebrations help people sense their existence and strengthen their resolve to go about it and to face the hardships. But we in Pakistan are living in an abnormal situation and there is apprehension instead of joy on the eve of this Eidul Azha.
Our NWFP, Balochistan and Karachi are burning and there is a constant threat of terrorism in Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi and other cities and the people have become psycho. The general feeling is that anything can happen as a consequence of the recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai. The recent Peshawar blast is an example.
Though US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice following her visit to New Delhi and Islamabad was hopeful that India and Pakistan would not go to war, but Indian sponsored terrorism in Pakistan could trigger anything.
