I still remember that cartoon in New York Times, in which an American soldier was holding the leashes of a dog, upon which word “Pakistan” was written, and that dog was holding a Taliban in its mouth. Soldier was patting the dog and saying, let’s go now and find out Osama Bin Laden. A resolution was passed in the national assembly, and that was all it did, and the Pakistani embassy in America demanded an apology from the American paper, but in vain.
Our Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani doesn’t get tired of reminding us that Pakistan is not the slave of US or any other country and Pakistan is continuously protesting over the drone attacks in the tribal regions of Pakistan, and Pakistan won’t tolerate such attacks on any of its territory, but the funny thing is that hours after his statements, the US strikes.
How possibly could Pakistan show eyeballs to the Washington, when our president Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister, the whole of cabinet and other cronies are doing nothing, but begging from the masters in Washington for more aid and loans? It’s even preposterous to think that our leaders care about the national esteem and sovereignty.
But then telling lies and false promise is what this government is all about.
