Rape cases would hit Rajasthan tourism, say travel agents

In the world’s tourist community grave concerns are rising over the rapidly increasing assaults on foreign tourists in India. Though Indian authorities have raised the security in the tourist resorts, but still the spate of sexual attacks against foreigners is rampant in tourist areas like Goa, Kerala, and Rajasthan.

Most of the tourist rapists in these locations are either tourist guides, or staff at the guest houses or hotels, or rickshaw or taxi drivers, or it could be anyone who feels like it. Several single women have been raped and sexually attacked this month in Goa, Kerala and Rajasthan – three of the most visited places in India.

These tourist resorts attract people from all over the world including America, England, Australia, Germany and France, but due to the increasing security concerns, number of tourist are decreasing exponentially.

The latest incident happened when an American tourist complained of molestation in Pushkar. According to the 28-year-old tourist, she was molested by a priest, Satyanarayan of the Papmochni temple, who has been arrested. She was planning to stay in Pushkar for three months to learn classical Kathak dance but now wants to return at the earliest.
