Pervez Musharraf to help Heroin Smuggling Scandal victims

pervez-musharrafFormer Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf once again proves to be ‘influential’. He is going to help the distressed families by talking with Saudi “high” officials. That happened when a TV host (probably Jasmine Manzoor of Business Plus TV) recommend father of one of the lady arrested in Saudi Arabia to talk with Musharraf as last resort which actually worked. Musharraf assured Pakistani family that he would use his influence with the Saudi Arabian government to get them released.

The family was detained after Saudi customs officials found heroin obscured in the slippers of their luggage, which were provided as a keepsake by Al Huda travel agency’s agent, Syed Sarwat Hussain. The detained family has repeatedly claimed innocence, and insisted that their travel agent had given the slippers to them as it has been reported earlier at Chowrangi.

Travel agent, Syed Sarwat Hussain, is already in police custody in Karachi along with his wife Shafia. They surrender to police giving statement that the crime is being done “through them not by them”. It is strange that the efforts of government are not so impressive in this regard while Mr. Musharraf assured that he could help the detained Pakistanis. He is a strong and influential person in Pakistani politics still for sure. Where the government stands?

    A good deed done by any person, irrespective of who is he,must be appreciated,If President Musharraf is using his influence we must appreciate his love for people of Pakistan.At least he is a brave man he didn’t run away from the country in exile like our all politician.Our government has got so many other priorities,where people of Pakistan comes last in their priority list and moreover who knows there might be some influential politician involved in this drug trade that’s why Government is reluctant to pursue their case?I really feel pity on the response of the government for their own citizens.This is not the first such case take,what this government has done in case of Dr Afia Siddique?except for few hollow statements.As is rightly said by our President “Democracy is the best revenge….’,so he is taking the revenge from the people of this country.

    there would be drug addicts (victims) if there had been a proper, mature and efficient government in pakistan. as for musharraf…he would do anything to be in the limelight. i doubt he is really concerned about any such issue…just recall his frustration regarding Mukhtaran’s case…according to him that was a matter of shame for pakistan…not what she was subjected to but her case being publicised was a matter of disgrace…

    May be he is out here to wash his sins………..for releasing a spy like Kashmir Singh and a murderer on the intervention of British royal family,,and if he had a chance,,,,sarbajeet would have been the next……..

    I agree Sir. The whole issue is handled carelessly even government has not issued any kind of guarantee or talks with Saudi Officials on higher level to solve the matter. They are playing in the hands of Travel agent mafia. A Pakistani in trouble where ever he or she is, should get helped by Pakistan government. But there are no such signs. If Muhammad Asif can escape the case why shouldn’t an innocent family? I had seen Mr. Raees desperately crying for justice. If the detained family has heroin why they get through the Jinnah terminal with an ease?

    Shame on us.

    Saw repeat telecast of Business Plus program today and it was Jasmine Manzoor who contacted General (retd) Rashid Qureshi, former mouthpiece of Musharraf, and asked him to “request” Pervez Musharraf to help the victims of heroin smuggling case. The way she urged father of victim lady to request for this made me feel very sad. Here is a person, a father, whose child is trapped by inhuman smugglers and he is forced to beg for her release. Shame on us as a nation.

    Mr. Raees (father of Shumaila who is held in Saudi Arabia) said that he sent letters to Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, Primer Minister Gillani, Nawaz Sharif and Aitezaz Ahsan to help him. They have all received the letters but nobody bothered to respond back. Where is the justice? where is Pakistaniat? where is humanity? One month has gone and the government is still looking into this. What a disgrace.

    Musharraf is a much better person as a president compared to this goon which we call Zardari. I am at least happy that we have a real democratic government but man talk about worthless government which cant even protect its own citizens.
