It’s very common now a days in our society that we hardly care about the fact that human beings are one community around the whole world rather we care about is which part of the world we are living in and which cast we belong to.
In our Pakistani community people have forgotten that they are “Pakistani” not some Sindhi, Punjabi, Balochi, Urdu, Pakhtoon etc. They just do not care about being a “Pakistani” rather what they care about is what province they belong to what language they speak, a Sindhi thinks of himself as a ruler of every land in Pakistan, a Pakhtoon just does not want to hear anything because he thinks everybody else is a sinner, a Urdu thinks everybody is illiterate except for them, a Punjabi is just too proud of having 5 glasses of Laasii a day. Unity and humanity has just disappeared from us and this is one of the biggest issues of backwardness in our country.
We are generally Muslims in majority in Pakistan, we have forgotten being a Pakistani but have we also forgotten that we for God sake are Muslims? Have we forgotten the Oneness of God (ALLAH)? And have we forgotten the teachings of our beloved prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) as well?
“Every human being is equal in the eyes of Allah” that’s what our Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) taught us, even in his last Sermon he said:
“All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor does a black have any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.”
These were the teachings of Allah through his Prophet (P.B.U.H), so do we value ourselves more than the teachings of Allah? Why will we not help somebody dying on road if he belongs to some other cast, language or religion? Why will a Muslim man not marry a Muslim woman if she is from a different cast? Why will we not give admissions to kids in good universities just because they are poor and don’t belong to powerful families? Why will we give favors to rich and powerful and not poor and needy? Why do we not think that all of this is mare injustice to humanity? Why have we forgotten fearing Allah and the Day of Judgment? Why we have forgotten that one day we will be answerable to our Lord (ALLAH) of our every deed and injustice we are doing to each other?
The current situation of our Pakistani people reminds me some verses from poetry of our great national poet Allama Iqbal:
“Tum Syed bhi ho Mirza bhi ho Afghan bhi ho,
Tum sabhi kuchh ho ,batao ki Musalman bhi ho?â€
I do not wish to insult any culture of our Pakistani people and I think we should respect our mother tongues and we should follow our family rules and culture but with that we should not forget that every human is equal and we should not think of ourselves more superior to anybody else, we should respect everyone and every culture.
We should not forget that we all are same and equal and we all belong to only Allah. We should follow the teachings of our Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) of unity and worldwide brotherhood. We should not forget that we all are humans and we should treat each other as humans, we should not forget humanity.
In the end it depends on us what we want to be, our stories may not have a very good beginning but the end depends on what we now choose to be.
