Is it what you call education?

I live in Wah Cantt and this is the area we have heard has 100% literacy rate. One would say that it’s great that people are getting educated and civilized. I see that there are schools and colleges at every nook. Some outsiders could easily get impressed and we too can show off to say we live in a city of educated people. Huhh…! But is there any standard of education? I once read that in Pakistan a person is declared literate if one knows to read and write. If this is the case, then we should be proud enough that literacy rate in Pakistan is increasing rapidly.

Actually it is the game of money. People have opened schools and colleges where they charge high fee but maintaining no standard of education. Lack of accreditation of education which is always promised by any institution but never implemented, has led to a high number of educated people that do not posses even basic requirements. These days, it’s very rare to employee a person who offers the right candidate.

  1. I agree with you on the subject and would like to add that there seems no light at the end of the tunnel and we would be boasting of more literacy percentage but on ground we would have more illiterate people around us. Even those with higher degrees seems to be lacking any character which is the basic and primary purpose of getting educated. Being educated has become more of a snobbery and a means of getting a job. Becoming a good human being has not become even secondary but almost missing from the purposes of getting the education.
