Homosexuality : An Abnormal Behaviour (Religiously and Scientifically Proven) – 1

It was a disgrace watching men and women indulging in obscene acts and public displays of lust and still is. But the recent outburst of same gender relations has made the former almost seem a virtuous deed. Words cannot suffice the level of disgust such acts arouse in normal people.

One thing is for sure that it is not a genetic problem. If it were Allah (SWT) would not have created Eve for Adam, and Allah (‘Azza-u-Jell) knows best.

Homosexuality is condemned in Islam. There are various verses in Qur’an where Allah (‘Azza-u-Jell) clearly says about Homosexuality:

We also (sent) Lut: he said to his people: “Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? “For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds.” – Holy Quran 7:80-81

“Of all the creatures in the world will ye approach males? And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!” – Holy Quran 26:165-166

The end result for not giving up homosexuality was the destruction of entire cities.

When Our decree issued We turned (the cities) upside down and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay spread layer on layer Marked as from thy Lord: nor are they ever far from those who do wrong! – Holy Quran 11:82-83

Many homosexual men and women claim that they are born with their sexual inclination and that they have no choice.

When Satan arouses such immoral and unnatural feelings in a person the person should try his/her best to overcome those undignified feelings and abstain from the deed. A person would come across a myriad of temptations in life. The person who maintains abstinence is the real winner of both the Worlds.

Homosexuality has been proven not to be inborn scientifically as well. It is simply a behavior that is bred.

In his debate article, “BORN OR BRED? Science Does Not Support the Claim That Homosexuality Is Genetic”, Robert Knight* has proved scientifically the falsity of the belief that homosexuality is genetic.

Here is an extract of the article that would clarify this issue further:

“Beginning in the early 1990s, activists began arguing that scientific research has proven that homosexuality has a genetic or hormonal cause. A handful of studies, none of them replicated and all exposed as methodologically unsound or misrepresented, have linked sexual orientation to everything from differences in portions of the brain, to genes, finger length, inner ear differences, eye-blinking, and “Neuro-hormonal differentiation.”

“Meanwhile, Columbia University Professor of Psychiatry Dr. Robert Spitzer, who was instrumental in removing homosexuality in 1973 from the American Psychiatric Association’s list of mental disorders, wrote a study published in the October 2003 Archives of Sexual Behavior. He contended that people can change their “sexual orientation” from homosexual to heterosexual. Spitzer interviewed more than 200 people, most of whom claimed that through reparative therapy counseling, their desires for same-sex partners either diminished significantly or they changed over to heterosexual orientation. Although still a proponent of homosexual activism, Spitzer has been attacked unmercifully by former admirers for this breach of the ideology that people are “born gay and can’t change.” Immutability is a central tenet of demands for “gay rights” and “gay marriage”.”

So those who want to change needn’t be hopeless. Allah (SWT) is Oft-Forgiving if on truly repents.

Could you please advise on this. What is to be done to a wife who after years of marriage discloses that she is a lesbian. And that she has been so premarriage and secretly even post marriage. And that she cannot leave her women lovers, and that I am secondary to her women lovers in all respects. Is she to be divorced on this basis,or is her abnormality be tolerated for the larger interest of the children.
She knows that with my work profile I cannot manage our three children and that out of fear that they also become homosexuals would not put them in boarding schools(as her).
What to do.With the widespread support of homosexuality in I ndia she is very confident nobody can harm her for her acts.

Allah (‘Azza wa Jell) in full Arabic, agreed.
However we do say Ghafoor-u-Raheem (Urdu-Arabic combo). anyway, i still agree i should have used ‘wa’.
as for Jell…both are correct (usage of a and e). there is shadd that is presented by the double L.

    > and Allah (’Azza-u-Jell) knows best.

That’s supposed to be Allah Azza wa Jal

Anyways, good replies to some of the qestions and once again, a briiliant post.

I have given two different views of different scholars. it doesn’t contradict in the sense that all scholars believe it is a haraam act. The difference is of to what extent is the graveness of the sin.

Imam Shafii considered giving up of the salaah intentionally an act of kufr? Imam Abu Haneefa declared it a grave sin but not kufr.

This doesn’t mean that any of the two were wrong. They gave their best opinion according to what they knew and had heard from the Sahabah (may Allah be pleased with them).

All the Imams said that if you find someone with better knowledge than ours, follow him.

    >>>If two women masturbate one another, then they are cursed fornicators.
    >>>The Imams are agreed that there is no hadd punishment for lesbianism because it is not zina.

Aren’t the above two statements contradictory?

@Mr. Lakhani: yes, i also haven’t across anything said ‘specifically’ about lesbians. however, it is of the same nature. scholars use the science of Ijtihad. Maybe this would be helpful in understanding it better.

    “Abnormal relationship between women

“I am a believer and I am in love with a believer. We are both women and have already had children who we are taking good care of, but their fathers have deserted us . We both want to live as good muslims, but we love each other so much . We have been told culturally that our love is an abomination, however we cannot find anything in the Qur’an which condemns us or our actions. We are hurting no one. We are employed. We are educating our children and nurturing our families. We know the passage in the Qur’an about Soddem and Gommorah, but that appears to deal with the rape of men by men. It does not speak to monogamous love between two women. We love Allah and want to do his will. We need more information about our situation.

“Just as illicit sexual relations can occur between men, they can also occur between women. The Muslim fuqahaa’ call this sihaaq (lesbianism), which they define as sexual relations between one woman and another (al-Mufassal fi Ahkaam al-Mar’ah by Zaydaan, 5/450), and state that it is a punishable offence (the punishment is a form of discipline for disobedience; no specific punishment is given in the Qur’aan, so the punishment is to be set by the Qaadi according to the circumstances of the crime and the one who commits it). The lesbian’s testimony is unacceptable because she is a evildoer (al-Mawsoo’ah al-Fiqhiyyah, 24/253). Ibn Qudaamah, may Allaah have mercy on him, said: “If two women masturbate one another, then they are cursed fornicators” (al-Mughni 10/162). Some of the scholars, like al-‘Izz ibn ‘Abd al-Salaam say that a lesbian is not permitted to look at a Muslim woman, and that a Muslim woman is not permitted to uncover (take off her hijaab) in front of a lesbian, because she is an evildoer who cannot be trusted not to describe her to others.

    Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid”

Also, “The imams are agreed that there is no hadd punishment for lesbianism because it is not zina (unlawful sexual intercourse), rather it is to be punished with a ta’zeer (what teh judge decides) punishment in which the judge punishes the one who does that with a punishment which will deter her and others from doing this haraam action.”

(Some scholars believe that lesbianism also deserves the hadd punishment)

What about female homosexuals (lesbians)? I haven’t read anything about them in the holy books. How did they become abnormal?
