Why does a wedding couple need to be dressed grandly in order to feel good about themselves or each other? Why do we associate good quality with money? Why do we fall in love with beautiful people more? Why do we get bored with the seaside or gardens and want new kinds of entertainment solutions? Why do we prefer to read or hear a joke over telling one?
There is one answer to all these questions. It’s because we look ‘out’ for happiness instead of looking in. Happiness is not an object but a state or response or emotion, all three being properties of the human self and not any object. The simplest rule therefore is; in order to be happy, be happy.
