Fighting ceased in Mingora

Maulana Fazlullah, the Taliban commander, has asked his fighters to stop battling Pakistani troops in Mingora, capital of Swat valley, a Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan told the AFP.

The number of uprooted civilians has now reached 2.4 million, the UN states.

Muslim Khan has said this order has been given so that the common man wouldn’t suffer more loss and hardship as the military were killing civilians in this war. He stated that most of the fighters have already left the capital.

Millions of people have been displaced during this onslaught and hundreds of thousands had fled earlier.

The government should take full responsibility of the civilians and try its best to recover their losses.
