As the government of Pakistan People Party changes its strategy over the war on terror, and is now going towards the operations instead of talks, the tone of the high-ups in the government also changes.
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said that talks would be possible with only those who would lay their arms and wants peace. Defence Minister, Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar has said that the prime minister has given full authority to the Army chief in connection with the Peshawar operation.
As the operation starts in the Khyber Agency, the situation in North Waziristan and Swat also gets awry. Baitullah Mehsud in the Waziristan has suspended talks with the government while in Swat, unknown miscreants planted three bombs near college chowk in Matta. Bomb disposal squad had been called after getting the reports of bombs and defused the bomb.
As the operation starts in Khyber Agency, Political administration has imposed unannounced curfew in the Bara bazaar and security forces contingents have been deployed at the key routes of the city. The situation remained tense in Bara tehsil and clashes continue between two religious groups. Both the groups using heavy and light weapons during fighting and as many people reportedly killed so far during these clashes, according to the media reports.
Helicopters made flights over these areas and Akakhel Road leading towards Terah Valley has been closed. Jamrood-Bara Road has also been closed at Shaks area. Security forces have started patrolling with five tanks in the area and strict checking of vehicles has been started.
This time they must do it once and for all for the better future of Pakistan.
