Democracy is NOT the best revenge

Democarcy is not the revenge Much awaited UN commission’s report on Benazir Bhutto’s assassination was published last month. It is now binding upon the government to pursue the investigation of this case with greater zeal.

Many term the assassination of Benazir Bhutto as a conspiracy to break the country hence letting the real culprits and perpetrators roam around freely means giving them another chance to try and execute their plans which might result in more catastrophic consequences this time around.

Amongst thousands of others, the four graves at Ghari khuda baksh, demand justice. Merely chanting the slogan Democracy is the best revenge wont help.

@Shakir: Perhaps “democracy” was just a horse she rode to get her female self, under the circumstances, out from under the thumbs of the old men, and not really a genuine goal?

The term “democracy is the best revenge” is meaningless. What the late BB meant by democracy is well-known. During her two terms in office she behaved like an autocrat (like her father) and her husband and ministers bled the country dry.

@tayab: It seems that either your leaders don’t think Pakistan is ready for democracy, or don’t want you to have it. How old does your child have to be before you trust him to go to the corner store by himself? What do you think?

It was calcuated chain of events. The biggest disaster is that government with no self respect and demoralising policies. I think it was the best revenge against the country. Isn’t it?
