Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman is as clueless as perhaps the president Asif Ali Zardari is. She is in her ostentatious style tries to wash out the lies with the cajoling smiles, but that makes it more ugly and more futile and as the days are passing, the lies and broken promises are costing Pakistan even more.
Former Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif is right when he says that the unelected and not-so-PPP people Sherry Rehman and Rehman Malik are the real root cause of current restive situation in the current political scenario and they are the ones who are making things insolvable by supporting people like Salman Taseer in Punjab.
Premier of Pakistan should also not remain inactive at this defining and crucial juncture of our history. It becomes incumbent upon Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to take steps vital to democracy and survival of the country and it even becomes more and more vital for the survival of the PPP and of democracy in Pakistan at large.
The doors of dialogue are always open and some allies of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party have been trying to end the present political tensions in the country. But these allies are themselves of dubious characters. Concrete steps are needed to cool the things down and for that matter there isnt much time.
