Cheque This Out

Numbers, like pictures, tell a story. Here’s some to chew over and contemplate on the futility of wat that the US was/is engaged in – whatever its merits or demerits. The Gulf War, at today’s dollar worth, cost the US $88 billion, the Korean War $456 billion and the Vietnam War $518 billion.

A few weeks before the White House requested $196 billion more for its operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, which, if accepted, will take the sum total to $810 billion by the end of 2009, surpassing the combined cost of the previous three wars. Just a quarter century ago, the US was the largest creditor nation. Today, it is the world biggest debtor nation. It is in hock for $2.9 with 11 zeroes after it, cant fit the entire numerical figure here.

Moral of the story? You tell me!
