Certain Uncertainities

Everything is uncertain in Pakistan. But the silver lining is that there are lots of certainties in these uncertainties. Lets take the example of prices of the consumer goods. You are certain that their prices are uncertain, and it is certain that this uncertainty will continue. You are certain that King Makers would always maintain the political uncertainty in the country. You are certain that the next prime minister would be according to the will of President General (Retd.) Pervez Musharraf, but you are uncertain that who would that be from Benazir or Pervez Elahi.

You are certain that there will be load shedding today, but you are quite uncertain about its timing and its duration. You are certain that Pakistani Cricket team will perform bad, but you are uncertain about how much bad. You are certain that you can cast your vote, but you are quite uncertain that whether it would make any difference or not.

It is this mindset of certain uncertainty, which has choked the minds of people of Pakistan. That is why they have become so numb, and they feel vigor and power sucked out of them. They are not ready to believe anything and anyone, because they believe the futility of it. They are very much apprehensive and wary of the sparkling and cajoling slogans of political parties and their glossy manifestos, as they have been there, seen it, and have gone through it.

As the numerous surveys have shown, as the general mood of public tells us that people are very much angry with the state of affairs in the country, and they are very much in pain to see their country in the grip of this internal strife, and the international bullying, and they are very much in agony to suffer through the social evils and the day-to-day hassles yet they are not coming out on the streets to fight for their rights, and they are being used in the broad day light by some elite group of people.

It doesn’t mean that the rest of Pakistan is like Pakistan Television. It’s not that the talk shows of PTV are the real representative of the aspiration of the Pakistanis. Pakistanis are certain that there country will emerge at last in the shine of democracy, and the country would be free from the hands of this bureaucracy, waderacracy, lotacracy and the politicocracy, very soon.
