“Brilliant” U.S. intelligence agencies!

The FBI used the photo of a Spanish politician to show how Osama Bin Laden might look like today. The politician, Gaspar Llamazares says he no longer feels safe and his life is in danger as his hair and parts of his face appeared on a most-wanted poster. He said the use of a real person for the mocked-up image was “shameless”. The FBI has admitted that one of their forensic artists had obtained certain facial features from a photograph on the internet. So this is how American intelligence agencies work!

Poor Mr Llamazares is now scared of travelling to the U.S. He is sure that he will be mistaken for Osama Bin Laden and could be shot.

“Bin Laden’s safety is not threatened by this but mine certainly is,” he said, adding that he was considering taking legal action.
According to the FBI, however, “The forensic artist was not aware of the identity of the individual depicted in the photograph. The similarities between the photos were unintentional and inadvertent.” Below are photos of Osama Bin Laden (as he was in 2001), the FBI’s version of what he looks like today, and a photo of Mr Llamazares(right).

I absolutly agree with Muhammad Yusha i have been noticing the same thing aswell… however that IP address bit sounds interesting. Double personality anyone? :p [or do they call it sumthin else?]

@Hend: Hira happens to be a sahiba, who, along with Eraj and Murtaza, is bent on writing irrelevant comments. If you look closely, you will see that all their comments to all posts revolve around militants and extremism regardless of whether it makes sense or has something to do with the post or not. Their IP address is also the same. They are probably people from one household who have decided who have come up with a strategy to write as many idiotic comments as they can.

Considering you reaction here, are you upset that they did not confer this honour on you or someone else from this region?

The spanish guy is just making hollow noise. Yes they used his photo as a base but there is absolutely no resemblence between him and the final product. It is a non issue. I have some exposure to modern animation such as the ones we use in modern movies. It is not uncommon to use a random human figure as a base.

The threat of him being alive is a threat to the freedom of people all around the world and especially Pakistan. Militancy has risen over the recent years in parts of Pakistan. The people condemn this greatly and we support the Pak army for carrying out successful operations in all 7 agencies.

@ Hend: makes me wonder how I’d have reacted if the photo bore even a remote resemblance to me. I’m not bearded, but if you remove Osama’s beard and put spectacles on him, he might look a bit like me (in fact, he’d look like millions of other Pakistanis and Indians and Arabs).

Looks like they kept the hair as it is.

In any case quite a feat turning a picture of Gaspar Llamazares into an ugly looking bin Ladin.
