Benazir’s Promises Still Pending

When the two time former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto was brutally and ruthlessly assassinated in daylight in Rawalpindi last year, the whole country shook with the violence and when the election came and people elected PPP as the winning party and it got its rule in every province, it was felt that now the things would be changed.

But change is what hasn’t appeared yet and the current overhaul is just a bunch of idiots who are clueless about everything. Present democracy in the country is the result of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s dream, said President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday while addressing a gathering on completion of the first year following the tragic incident of Ms Bhutto’s assassination. Zardari is the lucky accident of a president.

Zardari is just wasting the time and playing with the words. He is using the words of Benazir and her father. He says that Quaid-e-Awam Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto laid down the foundation of sacrifice for the cause of democracy. Then he utters big words about her late wife, and then he smiles and forgets.

Zardari must understand that he cannot make fool of more than billions of people with his smiles, false promises and cajoling and the time is drawing near when he has to give answer as why the promises of his late wife are still pending.

  1. “Then he utters big words about her late wife”. Please, please, “wife” is a woman, you should always write “his” wife. You are making the same mistake which most Urdu speakers do when translating from Urdu to English.
