Women are exploited in movies, television and magazines. They are constantly told what they should wear and how they should look so that beauty, diet and fashion industries can fill their pockets.
They are told what they should look like: thin long legs, flawless skin, perfect curves and big breasts. Needless to say it is hard to live up to these expectations, if not impossible. With all of the disillusioning pressures to be perfect, there are a tremendous number of women abusing themselves both physically and mentally as they hopelessly try to attain the always-out-of-reach image that they desire.
This West has become a place of women who believe in constant dieting, accompanied by bulimia, anorexia and all of the other disorders that go along with having a low self-image and low self-esteem because they cannot have the perfect body.
Women are lining up for plastic surgery in record numbers. Even the penalties of pain and potential mishap or exposure to ridicule are a small price to pay for looking ‘beautiful’.
