The last year blasphemous cartoon controversy was the events that outraged entire Muslim world and several numbers of peaceful and violent protests were witnessed all around the world criticizing the freedom of speech that was aiming at targeting Muslim sentiments. The provoking sketches published in a Denmark newspaper showed the holy prophet Muhammad PBUH as a terrorist. This kind of freedom is always denied in all civilized world societies that work as a catalyst aiming at dishonoring any specific religion, culture or any ideology. Every information agency both print and electronic has a code of conduct that is a must to be observed by all reporters, writers and analyst before making public any news or issue. An observation telecasts the misuse of this code of conduct in shape of protecting one’s own country’s moral and honor but exploiting others for making news.
Unfortunately a similar act is again about to be made by a far-right Dutch law maker that would certainly provoke Muslim sentiments once again. An anti Quran movie that is likely to be broadcasted until March. Delay has already been announced in the release of the movie on the basis that the film could be offensive and may lead to similar reactions made earlier during the cartoon controversy endangering public order, security as well as the economy.
De Telegraaf a newspaper mentioned that Geert Wilders, leader of the Freedom Party has sent a 10 minutes film’s opening scene to prove that he is working on this project. The shots show the cover of Quran and the text “Warning this book contains shocking imagesâ€. Another attempt to malign Islam would work to contribute in accelerating clash of civilization’s notion. Entertainment must not be made at the cost of increasing hatred in the world and such attempts must be discouraged by all segment of world polity to ensure peace and prosperity in the right direction.
