Shoaib Malik to wed Sania Mirza

Sania Mirza weds Shoaib Malik

Everything is fair in love and war and Pakistan have both with India but this time love is in the air across the border. Now that’s what is called the real upset in sporting world. The news of the year comes out of the blue from former Pakistan cricket team captain, Shoaib Malik who is now officially engaged with Sania Mirza, the star tennis player of neighboring India. The wedding ceremony will take place in April. However, Sania’s father was quoted as saying that the date for the marriage has not yet finalized.

The news leads to a flabbergasted response on social media probably because there was no affair or scandal been made earlier. Shoaib has stolen the show while remaining low profile. Here is an expression of Indo Pak twitter users about the cross border sporting ties.

• Sania Mirza weds Shoaib Malik … Thats a April fool joke… ppl plz dont fall for this joke!!! G. Deep Kiran

• Sania Mirza will b marrying Shoaib Malik. WTF? if she was so desperate 2 get married,y didn’t she participate in Rahul Mahajan’s Swayamvar?? Aadeesh Deshpande

• Sania Mirza n Shoaib Malik to get married?!!! Did not see that coming. #WTF #OMGfacts #Sania Samadrita

• 3 tweets by TOI one after other … Pakistan to normalize relation with India – Sania Mirza engaged to Shoiab Malik – curfew in Hyderabad 🙂Vishal Govind Khera

• Sania Mirza rejected all Indians… Pakistani ZidabadNusrat Zoha

• Indians say we stole your water you stole our Sania Mirza hisaab barabar…Anas Muhammad

The reaction from Pakistan side is welcoming but it seems that the news is still indigestible by the Indians. Thanks to social media that it is easy as well as intresting to catch what the people are saying around the globe regarding any happening in the world. One can hope that the marriage will become the symbol of peace and harmony among the nations too.

They love each other they want to get married, so what is the problem of so much commotion.

Not much anybody can do about that?

The best thing is to read the quote love knows no boundaries.

Even if the best of news is not good enough to make a difference in the relations between these two countries so what can?

We better smack the backs of the politicians very hard if we want to make the difference!!!

This is another sign that people across the border are the same. I hope this is a motivation for all the people living across the borders. We all must promote actions such as this that will bring us closer as human beings and promote a tolerance world around us so we respect each other irrespective of caste, color or creed.

I hope your comments are in a lighter vein…Because I’m not sure if the acronym MCP is popular in Pakistan or would better like to be refered to as a Male Chauvinist Person.

A news which spread smile on millions of faces. It can serve as a bridge between India and Pakistan. More and more people need to engage themselves in activities which promote bi-lateral relations between the two Asian giants.

The way this news is being projected by GEO, one would’ve thought Pakistan had won a major war against India. For God’s sake, what is so unique about an Indian Muslim girl marrying a Pakistani Muslim man? It’s happened so many times in the past, and some Pakistani Muslim women have married Indian Muslim men also.

“From your comment my point has been proven once again that Indians are hardly digesting the news.”

My point is that you are a responsible blogger…Now how does that make the news of Sania’s Wedding indigestible?

My point is that there might be other tweets which you haven’t looked at and the tweets you have looked at do not represent the views of a nation…How does that make the news of Sania’s Wedding indigestible?

In fact, what is really indigestible about this news at all???

Read Sania’s response to the media…

“We are getting married. We are not also making any political statement or anything on (Indo-Pak) relations. It’s a simple matter. We are getting married.”

She’s also mentioned that she’ll continue to hold an Indian passport and continue to play for India, while Shoaib continues to play for Pakistan.

I conclude what u mention by reading the tweets posted by people around the world soon after the news came. U can notice the time line of almost all the tweets is 23 hours ago from now which means that they are randomly selected at a certain point of time & I blv I had done justice to it.

From your comment my point has been proven once again that Indians are hardly digesting the news.

Nice observation that the news lead to a flabbergasted response due to the absence of any affair or scandal.

However, I fail to understand how you concluded that, “The reaction from Pakistan side is welcoming but it seems that the news is still indigestible by the Indians.”

Is this based on a few tweets you chose to read?? Are you generalizing the opinion of a nation based on the personal outlook (which in a lot of cases is intended pun) of a few people which you care to choose to read?? When such a news breaks out there will always be people for and against it. There might even be a few extremists or even political parties who might try to gain political mileage by making a scene out of this. But can you stop them whether in India or in Pak.??

You might be right in stating that “…the news is still indigestible by the Indians.” if you are talking in the context that Sania is by far one of the most successful female Tennis player not just in India but in the entire sub-continent and Shoaib is a disgraced former Pak cricket captain. (Sarcasm intended ;-))

I personally consider you to be one of the few responsible bloggers on this forum and therefore people read and believe you write. Use that position in a right and fair manner and leave the act of biasing opinions to others. Trust me there is no dearth of such commentators/bloggers on this forum.
