Senate Chairman wants every Pakistani to learn Arabic!

As if we didn’t have enough problems of our own, Senate Chairman Farooq H. Naek wants all Pakistanis to learn Arabic. According to him, learning Arabic will turn Pakistanis into pious, God-fearing Muslims. Nothing of course could be further from the truth (the Arab world is full of crooks!). But, in my opinion, he thinks Saudi Arabia will shower billions of dollars upon Pakistan if every Pakistani suddenly becomes proficient in that language.

Now one thing is clear: the Saudis are not fools that they would give part of their wealth to any Muslim country which has Arabic as its national language. They have enough poor Arab countries in their neighbourhood (Yemen and Sudan, for instance) to think of giving good money to Pakistanis who pretend to be better Muslims than they are. They know that most Pakistanis are the scum of the earth (look at Pakistani politicians if you want confirmation of this). Secondly, I want to ask the good Senate Chairman (who belongs to a political party which has leaders who are accused of having looted the country) whether he has taken the trouble to learn Arabic himself or has made his children learn it. If he has (which I strongly doubt), he’ll know how difficult it is to learn a foreign language. Leave alone Arabic, most Pakistanis in the rural areas can’t even speak Urdu (and this, despite sixty three years as an independent state).

So shouldn’t the Senate Chairman be seriously concerned that more than half of his countrymen can’t even speak the national language?

Urdu is not exactly a Pakistani language, is it? I thought it is an Indian language. But good to know you are proud of it.

On the other hand your insistence on Pakistani culture and heritage could become debatable considering some of those things are uncomfortably close to Hindu culture or even worse, a legacy of Hindu ancestry…not exactly Islamic huh?

I was merely suggesting adopting Arabic so that the process of shunning Hinduism can be complete.

And yes, my sympathies are however with your equally unfortunate (as Dalits) Pakhtun clansmen. My advise to them, be useful.

In my opinion every literate person in Pakistan has fair knowledge of Arabic as it is in the curriculum even at Graduation level but most of them just recite it without understanding.

In the movie KHUDA K LIAE, directed by Shoaib Mansoor there is a scene when American investigators asks SHAaN (hero of the movie playing a Muslim Student in US) the meaning of the Arabic words written on a paper(Taweez) in his possession. He told them that he doesn’t know the meanings but he can read it. The investigator yells on him saying that what kind of a language is this which u can read but can’t understand its meaning………

by the way –all schools in Pakistan teach Islamiat –where the meaning of the Quran and other important topics are discussed.

We already have no problem reading Arabic as the script is the same. Many words in Urdu are taken from Arabic/Persian (and even Ottoman Turkish)

I lived in Egypt for 4 years, and studied in Beirut as well. I am fond of the Arab peoples –especially those of the Mediterranean/Fertile Crescent region. I speak Arabic (Egyptian colloqial).

Doesnt mean I want to adopt their language. I am Pakistani. We have our own cultures and heritages –and I will put up a fight if somebody told me I had a new national language

as for your being a hindu, well –thats your own business. I’m not at all interested. My sympathies are, however, with the poor dalits who are treated worse than mules. My advice to them, dress/talk/walk like “cow”

    But my dearest Lt.Gen.

Arabic is the language of Islam and of Holy Quran, what is the harm in everyone learning it and adopting it as a national language? Now don’t be so Arab hating…they are a great nation of great people.

Hend are you out of your mind??????? I like the status quo. I’m a Pakhtun. I speak Urdu also. I’m happy with the way things are

I am totally for it. In fact the national language of Pakistan should have been Arabic rather than Urdu. Pakistan was founded on the basis of being able to practice Islam freely and Arabic would have been the perfect choice. Choice of Urdu was rather surprizing given that there are more speakers of Punjabi, Sindhi, Saraiki and Pashto. In fact if not Arabic then Punjabi would be more appropriate than Urdu.

I agree with the above comment for sure. The religious leaders have very less knowledge of Islam. Majority of them have nil worldly knowledge and minimal religious knowledge. It is mostly their getup that inspires young minds and their brain wash tactics.

Well actually I am for the motion. At least the militant leaders should learn it because only then they would realize that the ideology they are teaching to the young ones is fake and has no Islamic ground. Islam prohibits from killing innocent civilians who are not even a part of the war.
