PTCL Broadband: It commits but never delivers

PTCL Broadband

Frustrated by my existing DSL provider, I decided to switch to PTCL Broadband, DSL service launched by PTCL, as their rates were far better than any competition. On 23rd June I used their online order form to place an order and was really surprised to receive a call very next day. In next few days I received several calls from various departments of PTCL support, updating me of the progress.

It took 14 days for old connection to be terminated from exchange due to a glitch at previous providers’ end. On July 7th I received a call from PTCL support that my connection is activated. I have been given a number to contact Mr. Sohail (in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Exchange) who will deploy an installation team at my place. However every attempt to contact the guy was futile. In the next 4 days he never picked up his land line or cell phone neither responded to messages left at his workplace.

Disappointed, I contacted PTCL Toll Free support where a sweet voice took my complaint and on my query of whether PTCL is privatized or still a government department, I earned a sermon on few black sheep badmouthing everyone etc. My complaint was registered and I was told that it will be acted upon swiftly. However, 3 days passed and nothing happened.

During this time I used feedback form on PTCL web site to submit my complaint but nothing happened on that as well.

I was told by an insider that PTCL is concentrating on promotion only and they have no strategy in place for deployment and troubleshooting.

This experience highlighted the fact yet again that PTCL is really pathetic when it comes to customer support. While they are spending millions on promotion and Corporate Branding, they are not giving a damn for customer satisfaction. To conclude, PTCL Broadband commits but never delivers.

PTCL is committed to increasing the number of broadband subscribers without caring about the quality of service. The so called broadband speed graph would soon match the dial up connection or maybe even worst because of the constant disconnection and low speed provided by the company is the testament to its incapable management. People of Pakistan don’t know how to do honest business, everywhere monetary gains are preferred over customer service.

I am absolutely gutted to see how PTCL is making fool of whole nation by selling extremely low bandwidth and naming it as broadband. Trust me this is all bullshit.

I am working in UK, I had 512kbps from 2001 till 2006 there, I know what speed you get with 512 broadband, I am visiting Lahore where my brother have 512 ptcl broadband. I am simply shocked to see how people are being made fools in the name of broadband. It’s nothing different than 56k dialup, the only difference is that it dosn’t occupy your phone line.

Shame on PTCL for fooling the nation…

    Muntazir,
And by the way, you’re wrong about:

“China they started from their local exchange network and now they have their own servers online which serve as ISP to many countries”.

First, internet in almost every country started out this way, lol! 😀
Second, do you know, what is the true definition of an ISP? How internet is distributed from the root internet servers? How internet reaches China and Middle East? Do you known what is SMW3/4? If not, then try to find what exactly is this!
Third, ISPs are nothing without the root internet vendors so China is not providing internet to the world; but world’s root internet backbone providers provide the world with the internet 😛
Fourth, and Chinese internet freaks are only famous for spreading malwares, exploits and in hacking and cracking even though they claim to have the net’s largest firewall (The Great Firewall of China). So, better to become savvy for basic internet terms at the point being now 😉

    Well done, Muntazir.
I am looking at PTCL all the time. It does matter if I care about others but all I’m doing is chocking my own stream, not yours and not anyone else’s. PTCL is not a clown-car, they have bandwidth throttlers at each port they’ve setup in their exchanges so its not possible to get more than 4Mbps downstream per 2Mb connection. I’m getting what I’m paying for? Right! If I use about 10% of the bandwidth that would be breadcrumb for you and for PTCL but if I’ll use my 100% bandwidth for which I’m paying, that becomes a pain for you and PTCL!
    So,
    THANKS BUT NO THANKS 😀
And goodluck with your connection 😉

First let us look at ourselves than abuse the customer service, as Mr. Bolder mentions, he has been busy in downloading stuff from internet, this reduces the browsing capability of other users, his machine is never tired and he still has 2k+ torrents in the pending list, congrates Mr. you won the race now its time to shut down the torrents and uninstall so that others could benefit from the net provided. If we put a sharp look at China they started from their local exchange network and now they have their own servers online which serve as ISP to many countries, according to a survey they are the biggest net consumers in the world, come on man start thinking and for GOD sake do some thing usefull.

I bet I’m giving PTCL Broadband a really hard time. Having two separate connections, I still got 2Mbps PTCL broadband connection for 24/7 downloading though I’ve not been a tough downloader in my sucky life 😀 This is just as a backlash for the tease they were giving me for a long time, haha! Full bandwidth choke by downloading games, books, movies and of course the leachful torrents. Now I’ve got out of ideas what to download next; cause my Redhat machine doesn’t want to sleep so just in case to avoid any culrping break there are still 2000+ torrents in the pending list …! LOLZ!
