My name is Khan – Oh, is it?

Shah Rukh Khan detained on US airport

Not being recognized is a problem Shah Rukh Khan does not encounter very often. On Saturday, however, the 43-year-old Bollywood star, who was on his way to an Independence Day function in Chicago, was detained for close to two hours by immigration authorities at Newark Airport in New Jersey, USA.

Khan said he found the incident “a little embarrassing.”

Khan was waiting for his bags when security officials asked him to accompany them. “I thought it was nice of them to take me to another room,” he said. “But apparently that was a second check. I had my papers in order…I was taken aback.”

Khan said he chose not to say too much to the officials “because I am little worried about Americans as they do have this issue when your name is Islamic.”

“I will take the first flight back to India once my work here is finished,” he added.

The actor was interrogated, his bags checked and he was asked to give names and phone numbers of people he knew in the US. He was not allowed any calls till the interrogation ended. Khan then called the Indian consulate, who secured his release.

Shah Rukh Khan has just finished shooting in the US for his next film, which is about a Muslim man who is subjected to racial profiling in the US. The film is called My name is Khan. The star’s detention has upset his fans, Bollywood and the Indian government. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni suggested an equal and opposite reaction towards Americans visiting India. “I am of the opinion that the way we are frisked, for example I too was frisked, we should do the same to them,” PTI quoted Soni as saying.

India has formally taken up the matter with the US, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vishnu Prakash said in Delhi. US Ambassador to India Timothy J. Roemer issued a statement saying, “We are trying to ascertain the facts of the case, to understand what took place. Shah Rukh Khan, the actor and global icon, is a very welcome guest in the US. Many Americans love his films.”

@Mohamed: If you can’t see her fighting like a man,. you need a pair of glasses to enable you to read her comments properly. Please work on your comprehension skills if you can’t see her fighting like a man even with glasses on. And are you calling this Momina’s holy war? That is HILARIOUS!

@Confused Indian: Don’t worry about crazy people.

    And yes,

    @Confused:

Jazakallaho Khayran (used for male; for female: Jazakillaho Khayran) = May Allah SWT reward you with the best

Fee Sabilillah = In Allah SWT’s Way

Insha’Allah – If Allah SWT Wills

Barakallaho feek (used for male; for female:Barakillaho feeki) = May Allah SWT’s Blessings be upon you.

If these were adding to your confusion I hope it is clear now. Please feel free to enquire about more terms if you face a problem. 🙂

sorry to intrupt you in holy war.

@momina, finding it difficult to read the term you use most often i have a suggestion why don’t you write a layman’s book called ‘idiot’s guide of islamic word’. it sell like hotcake.

@Mohammed: Jazakallaho Khayran brother. Yes, you are right. May Allah SWT give us the courage and ability to strive fee sabilillah.

The Arabs of the Jahiliyyah had more sense of honour and chivalry. When the polytheists of Quraysh plotted and conspired against the Prophet s.a.w.w to kill him from his home, one of their ignorant men proposed that they break into his house. Abu
Jahl, the leader of the disbelievers, strongly rejected and condemned this, saying, “Do you want the
Arabs to reproach us for alarming the daughters of Muhammad?”

Nowadays, so-called Muslims themselves have no respect for brothers and sisters.

Insha’Allah, if we make ourselves stronger our path will be easier for us 🙂 .

Barakallaho feek. May your family be the coolness of your eyes, ameen! May the Ummah be the coolness of every Muslim’s eyes, ameen!

@Momina, as is obvious the ones accusing you are not even able to defend their accusation. Keep up the great work and don’t fear the blame of the blamers (Q 5:54). They accused our beloved prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be on him) of being mad (Q 81:22), can we not expect the same from such among us? You are doing your work for a higher selfless cause, while they are here to serve their egos.

@Yusha, She does not claim to be fighting like a man, you are making the claim!

I don’t want to doubt on your comprehension skills, so I repeat with emphasis, don’t beat around the bush! Please explain your intelligent rationale behind the accusation of why you feel she is fighting like a man.

Eid Mubarak to all those who do have comprehension skills.

@Mohamed: You didn’t read my comment properly. I said that she loves to fight and does it like a man. Why she does it, only she can tell, not me. You also need to work on your comprehension skills, brother. Eid Mubarak.

I understand this simple thing, Taliban established the Sharia, which no other group in Pakistan for more than 50 years did. Allah declares all those who don’t rule by Sharia as Kuffar (surah Maidah). The corrupt elite power groups served their own interest increasing the divide in the society between economic classes. Corruption is at all time high. Politicians have been consistently coming to power to usurp (into their pockets) huge loans from World Bank and IMF and enslaving the poor farmers into repaying in form of taxes and subsidy cuts for the rest of their lives, though they barely have enough to eat.

The Taliban is a loose body of individuals in a state of war running under cover hardly able to function as a cohesive group. Moreover in many places there are thugs calling themselves Taliban to gain influence & economic mileage. A corrupt media uses such people to smear the Taliban. Though they have been much maligned by a well-controlled media under influence of the West, the real Taliban have shown they can deliver justice. It is well established and under-stated fact that in Afghanistan they were the only people to reduce poppy production to almost zilch. They were the only people to whom old and helpless parents could turn for help in rescuing their daughters used by warlords as sex slaves. This was rampant when the Taliban movement gained momentum after the Soviets were kicked-out. Almost no Western journalists with exceptions like Robert Fisk have had the courage or the willingness to speak the truth and they too have been easily suppressed.

In a state of war don’t expect to read the daily local news to get accurate information. Remember we didn’t coin “all is fair in love and war” (Deption in War) it does not befit Muslims.

@Yusha, comprehension skills? You jumped into this accusing Momina of fighting like men. If you have substance in your claim, please explain why you feel she is fighting like a man. Don’t skirt around this if you are a man, the onus of explanation is due on you – why you feel so?
