After depriving nation of its constitution, now the same people are trying to insult the nation more by ordering PCO-less judges to vacate their homes before 1st December. All the quarters of Pakistan including political leaders like Nawaz Sharif, Benazir Bhutto, and Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Imran Khan, lawyer community, journalists, and different factions of civil society have shown their great pain at this order and have termed it as yet another revengeful act.
A government employee has the right to keep the government residence for three months after retirement or leaving the job and those 3 months could be extended to 6 months on compensatory grounds, and what is not done in Pakistan on the “compensatory grounds The judges who have been sacked and who haven’t taken oath under the PCO are not even retired, and they have got full right to remain in their government residences and it would be an illegal act to order them to vacate their homes.
Former (or for majority of Pakistanis, the current) Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary has warned the authorities that giving him notice of vacating the residence would be considered as equivalent of humiliating the Supreme Court. Another hero of the nation, Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday has said that if he would be forced to vacate his home, he would go to the footpath with his family, because he hasn’t has any home of his own.
This is a very sorry state of affairs that we are doing such an ignominious treatment to the judges of our highest courts. First they were kept out of bound after they refused to take oath under PCO, and now they are being forced to vacate their homes. Its totally uncalled for and its against all the legal and ethical bounds.
Caretaker government should keep its attention to the task of rigging the polls and shouldn’t poke its nose in other affairs. They are trying to become more loyal to Shah than the Shah.
