On October 8, 2005 a calamity of mammoth scale hit Pakistan’s many areas especially the Kashmir region. It wiped out cities, towns and villages from the face of earth. The world especially Pakistanis rushed to help their brethren.
But as feared, due to the short memories, the issue went on the back burner. The re-construction process is going on in the affected areas, but the situation, according to media news, is dismal and needs to be addressed at once.
Due to use of substandard material in the re-construction, if anything like 8th October hits again, the same destruction is on the cards. The satisfactory news is that the outfit which overlooks the matters regarding the re-construction process has taken notice and have issued warnings to the factory owners to provide solid material. It has also asked factory owners to first get their factories registered before supplying the material.
Transparent registration, and by engulfing these factories under legal umbrella the quality of material can be put under check and balance.
