“I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.” — Obi wan Kenobi (Long, Long Ago, In A Galaxy Far, Far Away)
Many people believe that Obi-wan was referring to the destruction of Princess Leah’s home planet of Alderan. He might have been, but Pakistanis think that this was a dull and morbid vision of United States which historians will mark as the end of Super Power’s credibility in the world for ever.
Only George W. Bush could have the stomach of destructing two countries on the mere suspicion and thinking about going for couple of others. Americans are themselves confused over the situation in Pakistan and the neighboring Afghanistan. They don’t know what to do and how to control the happenings. They don’t have a clue as how to solve the scourge of terrorism, let alone its elimination.
When President Musharraf is saying that suicide bombers are coming from Mehsud tribe, and US knows that the perpetrators of Al-Qaeda are there, then why not in the hell they go after them? By them I mean the Pakistani forces, as I would never support the involvement of any other force on our land. Pakistani forces should just romp and comb the area.
Alongside with operations and attacks, they should offer lucrative awards and opportunities to the local people, majority of whose just want peace and stability and progress. The lasting solution for this problem is only through dialogue and through the engagement of people there. US should help Pakistan in spreading modern technologies and education in those areas, rather than just arms and aid.
