Gilani’s Escape

Last year, the country saw a grand-scale mayhem throughout the land from Karachi to Khyber after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto in Rawalpindi when she was returning after addressing an election rally in front of Liaqat Bagh. That brunt and that loss hasnt’ still been recovered and the national psyche is still tortured and battered.

Now once again, in the same city where Benazir Bhutto was assassinated and her father was hanged by the military dictator, an attack was made upon the vehicle of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in which he luckily survived. Of the multiple sniper shots fired on the Prime Minister’s vehicle, two hit the window on the driver side. However, because of the robust and comprehensive security measures, the Prime Minister and all the member of his motorcade remained unharmed.

Snipers have already damaged the country a lot, and this recent attempt on the life of the Prime Minister was aimed at destabilizing the country at this crucial juncture when a full blown war is going on in two of our provinces and the national morale is at all time low.

Musharraf was also made target two times, just because of his policies, and PM Gilani must review his policies to save country from yet another disaster. Rawalpindi has become the hotbed and favorite place for the targeted killings, despite of the fact that it’s a garrison town.
