Any work of any degree of significance requires some sort of decision to be made. Its an inherent human capability to decide and then act, or to follow a decision and act. Due to this intuitive human feature, any work done is possible at all.

Decision making skills are oftentimes applied to solve troubles. Decision making is paramount in the crisis management, and they can either make or break things. Decisions are made in moments and their effects are felt in centuries. There are a total of alternatives or courses of liveliness from which the unequaled or optimum alternative is chosen in making the paramount use of decision making skills. Decision making isn’t something straight forward, neither it is something which could be taught in a graduate course. Its not like something which could be done by following some predefined procedures and steps. Decision making means to select the best optimal alternative from many, and before that identifying the alternatives. Experience is the key here, and the precious factor is honest advises, and if both are there, there is every possible likelihood that the decision will be a correct one.

Decision making also involves decision management. Decisions inevitably generate tradeoffs; in the wake of decisions you lose something and you gain something, its very rare that you get a win-win situation. Decisions facilitates some merits, and decisions also beget conflicts and dissatisfaction. Now best decision is in which merits outweigh the losses.

But taking a decision and owning it, especially if it went awry, is a very courageous thing to do. Avoiding or pending a decision is always easier than making it. Yet, making your own decisions and accepting the consequences is the only way to stay in control of your time, your success, and your life.
