A Complaint Against Incorrect Meter Reading by KESC

Here is a complaint against incorrect meter reading by KESC, sent in email by one of their subscriber. I am publishing it verbatim.

I approach to all concern but not get positive reply that is why send my complain letter to be appear in LETTER TO EDITOR column SO the concern authority will serious to solve my problem from root level soon.

Sub un-attended & careless from KESC against complain more than 2/3 excess billing reason speedy/faulty meter but who will notice KESC silence?

Respected Sir / Madam

We are living in a 2 room flat of ZAINABIA TRUST, SOLDIER BAZAR, KARACHI 74400 and our problem begins when replaced old meter by new one, Since we faced problem of excess billing even our complain registered with the WAFAQI MOHTASIB, Karachi No. H-6140-2008-MMA-957 have no progress when time to time we remind them to solve our problem, why they people treat us SECOND CITIZEN OF PAKISTAN.

Our case was 20 months old but remain dead in the file of WAFAQI MOBTASIB any person asked why they delayed the cases for what reason?

Why we punished to face the excess billing more than 2/3 time against the actual consumption more interesting to share we replace all our normal light and bulb with saver in order to safe the electricity charges but our efforts are unsuccessful..

More interested to share I also registered complain with the following authority and expect positive justice and solution of my proof but don’t take un-necessary time please.

1. PRB-5378-09. On line complain with Governor of Sindh Dated Feb 2, 2009

2. ONL/0000035/09 with Mohtasib Islamabad Dated Feb 3, 2009

3. Many time placed complain with KESC but surprise they people have no courage to reply

4. Approach KCCI for help twice time but no positive result to solve problem, only submit electricity bill photo copies to them

5. today registered online complain with Chief Minister of Sind and expect positive response.

Please remove our faulty / speedy meter at your earliest and also allow us reasonable rebate the reason we pay the excess ELECTRICITY billing on account of speedy or faulty meter, this credit must reflect in our bills and inform what amount you suggest for giving us credit soon.

Current month bill I can’t able to pay due to heavy amount of Rs.2200 and even request to solved by problem in honest and sincere way than god will bless you all.

Do not forget the issue of unannounced load shedding which on daily basis we used to face at least 3 to 5 times a single day and duration of entire single day is minimum 4 hours.

I am jobless Since Sep – 08 and plus KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION PATIENT, why you people want to give additional tension and torture as punishment for using electricity in honest way?

I failed to understand when we settle our Nov 08 bill in due date than why the arrears shown in Dec 08 bill for Rs.610.07 which is too surprising.

Remember that delay in justice is also IN-JUSTICE and please don’t give additional burden or pressure for common consumers. Where KESC totally careless attitude to solve my problem than what authority I should contact tell me please.

How helpless or powerless business community KCCI organization not yet succeeded to get relief a common consumers than how they fought for the rights of own members.

In last who will remind to KESC that they forgot to response a common consumers? KESC maintain the same attitude (remain silence or ignore) when other consumer complain than who will notice this careless only CONSUMER’S suffer in our country.

    doe any body tell me the email address of CEO of Kesc, or any managing Director of KESC,,,, I am also facing such problems of assessed bills……. and want to give appliction to CEO becuase at customer service they are nothing doing……. I am a heart pateint can not go their office again and again

    Subject Meter Change
    The KESC reader reported that our meter has stopped. It was reconfirmed when we ourselves checked the meter. The meter starts working after being shaked rigrously.

    All our previous bills have been submitted on time and we lie under your start customer bracket as you always mentioned. We would appreciate if you can replace our meter as early as possible

    Owner of House: MR. ZAHEER UD DIN

    The family of above mentioned house address is stealing electricity for a long time period. Also they are using many electronic items i.e. Electric water motor, Televisions and others daily routine electronic items. Their monthly electricity bill is coming in a very low amount, however, the house has been built on triple storey.

    Therefore, I requested to you that please take strict disciplinary action against them and also raid to this house as early as possible.

    I have similar problem. I had an apartment which was close for six years and now KESC has given us 48000 bill saying that someone was stealing the electricity. I had all the prove showing that apartment was closed even the gas statement is the prove I am running around since six months now and they treat me like shit. But I will not sit down and I will make sure they rectify this error.I don’t understand if electricty was being used by my meter from last six years why they did not come and check as no bill payment since 6 years, but no they were lazy and after six years they send me the bill of 48000 and expect me to pay that. This is one ridiculous attitude and I will not tolerate even if I had to go to court for that.

    Toroto Star has an independent Ombudsman , Institutions like KESC should consider appointing one , where the consumers may go for such a position . A very senior Journalist of Ido- Pak origin may be persuded to help in this respect ,
    I believe that Mr Ishrat Hussain had appointed an ombudsman in the State Bank of Pakistan .

    > The specific matter of KESC’s meter reading and a growing consumer dis-satifaction must be taken up with Mr Naqvi and the Privatisation Commission .

    > The approach adopted must be objective and designed to solve the problems.

    > We must stay strictly to the point .
    > Do every thing transparently through the ” Chowrangi ” media .
    > Not antagonise KESC management or create an adversary situation.
    > It is with piety , prayers and patience it will bring about a cultural change in Paskistan’s Society .

    KESC anti theft campaign has over motivated these people they put fine on my two single Phase metters sent me a letter to reply them and clear my position, timely a written reply was submitted in which i requested RPD to check my metters again if there is any, any temporring i may punished as the alligation was Nutral Break which was infact which not. on my request KESC complaint center technitians check the metter and said they are ok but the fine of Rs. > 100,000 Thousand was imposed through i submitted 4 reminders and request letters to the department before the fine. i was threatened that my light will be disconnected if i will not pay the bill. so I m paying monthly installments still now for the mistake i did not commit.

    Matter of Fact is there is no one who cares wow what a country we are living in

    I am very pleased that Chowrangi has taken up the matter of over billing by KESC . KESC was privatised and sold io Abrage Capital .

    I am sure that the new management of KESC will consider appointing a competant and independent ombudsman to resolve thje public dis-satifaction against KESC.

    I suggest that Chowrangi takes up the following KESC related matters :

    > KESC ombudsman .

    > KESC’s plan and accoutability to solve the Electric shortage problem.

    > Re-structuribg and re-organisation of KESC , like GM in USA and solving the inhertent problem.

    The KESC is also charging me a lot. The meter is very fast and I have complained about it many time but no action. They use very dirty tricks to increase bill amount and no one is ready to listen.
    It is a government of looters, run by the looters, for the sake of looters and to protect looters. I know if I use kunda with the help of KESC emplyee then I will get very small bill and I will be protected.

    I am also facing a similar problem. I have been overbilled last month and no one from KESC is responding to my querries regarding the problem. I do not know what to do and whom to contact. Even 118 is not providing any numbers and answers. A visit to KESC office means taking off from my job, and I do not know how ready they are at the KESC office to answer my querries. They are so rude in even answering simple querries.

    Knowing the KESC, they wil probably replace the meter with a Chinese product, which runs 30% faster. This happened in my case.

    This is with reference to above subject matter; we would like to inform you that from last several months I am receiving bill charge on average unit instead of meter reading.

    I would like to request you that the bill on average (copy of bill attached) is on higher side as my consumption is far more below as charge by you. Average unit charge 418 continues as actual meter unit 180 to 210 on the monthly basis

    I would like to request you to kindly get my meter checked on below mentioned address and bill me accordingly.
